Nazgûl

Post by Blego7 »

The Nazgûl were they, the Ringwraiths, the Úlairi, the Enemy's most terrible servants; darkness went with them, and they cried with the voices of death. Their steeds were winged creatures: if birds, then greater than all other birds, and were naked, and neither quill nor feather did they bear, and their vast pinions were as webs of hide between horned fingers; and they stank. Creature of an older world maybe. Vultures upon the weak....--"Silmarillion"/"Return of the King"

Hey all,

After my respective failure with the dragon Smaug, I decided to try my hand at another dragon by joining Sean's contest. Indeed, my axe is rather dull when it comes to dragons, so I hoped to hone my axe a little bit through this contest. I have no expectations of placing but I wanted to show some support for my good friends Sean and Steph.

That said, I hope you like it!

This is incredible. You got the shaping down really well, and the surrounding scene is brilliant.

This is so cool and as others said great usage of diffrent parts to build this :D.
And my opinion that head is just perfect, I think it looks like the dark beasts from the movies.
Great work :D

Awesome Dragon Blake! The only nitpick I would have is the black sails on the tips. I would've done something different. :) Otherwise it's awesome! :D

It would've worked better if I had about 6 more of those black sails. I haven't been overly thrilled with the new fad of "plate wings" that have come out, no matter how detailed or realistic they may look. My main effort with the wings was to capture the shape and the texture. The capes were in effort to give it a leathery feel.

Yeah, I don't like the "Plate wings" either. Oh, Yes! I forgot to mention the capes! That was a splendid idea! It looks so real, great job!

Also, Congatulations on joining LCC!! I'm very excited to see you in the project!! although I wish you had joined loreos... :)

Haha. I mainly thought the outlawhood would give me more freedom to operate. I still need to sit down with the LCC and get my ducks in a row though. You guys have been discussing the ideas for some time now, and there are a ton of posts I need to pour through. :)

Hi Blake, There are a few really fantastic things on here, for example the Capers give an amazing feel towards that leathery look you've said you've been aiming for, but also I think those rubber tyres also help, but what I like most are those cool spines, Its a great use, if not original, Its definitely outstanding!
But the head lets it down, its to blocky for my liking.

That's true.. The Outlaws are rather unrestricted. I still would like to see you in the Red faction. But hey! with DNL, yourself, and the rest of us. We might just be a match for the GOH titans on the Eurobricks forum! :D

Just now noticing some of the other great details in the surrounding terrain. Love the pool of blood running off the edge of the base, and the decapitated horse and dismembered and impaled orcs are pretty terrifying, lol. Nice use of that face for the dead orc also.
