This is quite close, one of my older attempts :)

I've been trying to kick off my own Lego story, so here's the problems I've encountered:

Writing a story and getting people interested (and keeping them interested!) in it is difficult. I write on DeviantArt and while initially I got a lot of views lately they've been waning. The internet doesn't like to read. We skim through information and our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter.

Getting (quality) Lego pictures to accompany the story is another difficulty, and in fact, you're even aiming at a smaller audience of Lego enthusiasts than if you were writing a regular story, so it's a case of 'more effort for less gains'.

Then there's the fact you need a place to put your stuff on the net (where are you going to host it?), and also a lot of physical space. I would set up the locations I want to use for my story, but I only have 1 proper table, meaning I couldn't do anything else (like Brikwars battles or separate MOCing) on that table.

I like the analyses in this topic so far, something I would like to add, and something I think is very important, is that now that all the old stories are gone, they aren't there anymore to inspire others to do the same. We should bring the old stories back, preserve them somehow and make them accessible to people again.

I agree with this.

I actually have many of these old stories saved on my hard drive. I am a bit concerned that if I posted them online I might get into trouble from the authors who wouldn't want me to post them online.

Hmmm

If they didn't care about them enough to keep them online they won't care about them enough to bug you about them either. I definitely think you should credit the people who created them but definitely upload them as well... You'd be doing a lot of people and Lego castle story-writing in general a huge favour. I'm dying to re-read Ikros, above all, and it just isn't the same when once every 3 pictures a picture is broken... Heck it would be awesome if your version still has the pics where the Patriarch gets decapitated and the mercenary guy gets Demonclaw's pike slammed into his face - those we removed ('censored'? :tasty: ) last time I checked.

In the process of developing my fantasy world I have been working on for quite some time, I've moved to making my MOCs more story based, albeit with more focus on the photo and less on the description.

That being said, I do have a very extensive written chronology of my fantasy world that covers nearly 1,500 years, which has led me to the decision to create a story thread that would have maps, stories, MOCs, and the like all in one place. So, be on the lookout for that, I suppose.

Brilliant. Love the simplicity.

I've also have thought about making a story based series of MOC in fantasy world of my own ideas. I don't have close to the amount of background or anything compared to OverLoad... but who knows? I might eventually make something of it and then I'll share it here. :)

Fellow Roawian brethren . Have just discovered this section of the LCC. I'm very happy to "have a go" at story telling as I'm extremely short on Lego resources, except for minifigs. The title is [ Meirian's Hand of Wolf Clan, The Outlaw Way as told by it's leader Daffyd ap Owen] or commonly shortened to "The Chronicles of Meiri's Hand" by the Wolf Clan community . I'll start a thread under that name. The story takes up mainly where the hand flees capture from a strong Loreesi Regular patrol on "hot pursuit" near the Loreesi/Outlaw border woodlands.
Read under "The Chronicles of Meiri's Hand" thread. And so the tale begins.....
