Thanks AK. For me, the slower the better (obviously!). Of course, I also think taking our time on this project will make it that much more rewarding. I'm already thinking about future sets we could draft if this one goes well

EDIT* As I look over the pieces in this set (horses, torsos, capes, sand green bricks, lots of bley bricks), I am blown away at how awesome this set will be to draft. There is so much potential for EVERYONE to get good pieces. This will be fun!

My payment has been sent. Uruk Hai Army is probably a better first draft than Elrond anyhow. I'm perfectly happy with it and I'm all for the slower method. Thanks AK!

Thanks for the fast payment, everyone!

Half of the sets should arrive today, and the other half on Monday, so I'll try to get half of the sorting done over the weekend at least. I also get July 4th and 5th off (Woohoo!!) so I'll have everything ready to go by next weekend at the latest.

I suppose I shall generate the draft order. I will use the list in the first post as the order of assignment. For example, I'll use http://www.random.org to generate a number from 1-8 for myself first, then Soccerkid, Eklund, etc..
If a number is generated that has already been assigned, I'll keep generating new numbers until an unassigned number pops up. Does that make sense?

EDIT: I forgot, we usually wait to determine draft order after all of the necessary lot splitting has been done, so that nobody is unfairly biased. For example, if you have the first pick, you might not be so anxious to split all of the orc torsos into two lots ;)
So for now, just let me know if you have any questions as to how the draft order will be determined.

I agree with your suggestion of splitting the uruk heads/torsos/legs up. Other than those there doesn't seem to be any other parts that really need to be split up :)

Does anyone else have suggestions on lots that need to be split? Oh, hinges that come in two parts (like this one, for example: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3830) are usually combined into one lot. I don't remember there being any hinges in this set though.

The only other thing that comes to mind is the Uruk-hai helmets. I personally don't care one way or the other but 24 helmets is more than I would think most people would want or need. The rest of the weapons and armor come in smaller quantities. I mean this more as a question than a suggestion. Do you think they should be split or kept together?

Yeah I'd say two lots of 12 would be a good idea. Any objections? Other suggestions?

I agree with splitting the helmets as well.
The more lots the better :sly:

Did we say we were splitting the 1x2 light bleys? There will be 128 and that would mean in one pick, someone would already make about half of their piece count back. Other than all of the Uruk minifig parts being split, I think we're good.

I guess the way I look at it, even at 128, the 1x2 light gray bricks aren't necessarily a slam dunk #1 pick or even a guaranteed top 5 pick. There are 80 2x2 diagonal facet bricks, 64 1x1 sand green bricks, 2 lots of 16 ork torsos, heads, and legs, 8 horses, etc.

All of those in my mind are somewhat equal in desirability. I think a common part like a 1x2 brick is OK to keep in one large quantity.

Thoughts?

I don't think the bricks need to be split. Like you said, unless you're in need of the bricks, I don't see them as a top pick or as an obvious choice that clearly overshadows all other possible picks.

We should be fine with just splitting the Uruk-Hai lots up, to include their helmets.

The horses should be split into a group of seven, with the last one going to me as a finder's fee for being awesome. :eyebrows:

Splitting the uruk helmets is a good idea. As for the 1x2 bricks, even 128 of them are only worth about as much as the 8 horses, and they are just bricks so less desirable for many :)

I've been pretty quiet on this so far, but that's testament I guess to everyone answering each other's questions and us having no problems. I'm just excited!

Saying that- it was been interesting watch the discussion regarding the "desirable" pieces and the orc fig separations. Not picks I had even considered planning.

Me either!
It looks like they will all be fighting for the same pieces and we will get the actual good ones
