Castle vignettes

Postby Bruce N H » Wed Sep 29, 2004 12:37 pm

Hi guys,

Based on work by Makato, Sugegasa, and Yuriko Hanai discussed in this thread, I've put together a few castle-themed vignettes.

I like this idea because it doesnt require a lot of pieces and if you wanted to play with them, the playability is there.

They look great. My favorite is the guy in shackles.

You know, these remind me of today's sets: small, not really buildings, one or two people...

Except....

They're made out of real pieces.

Great job!

Great job. You made a wonderful stuff off small stuff.
Shelved bricks(???)

Very neat stuff. I like the Scripitorium one the best, lots of detail in a small package.

I like the concept, fun quick MOCs that suggest a story.

Nice work, having the scroll stand coming out of the wall like that. Also you did a good job with the cobbled/deteriorated flooring in the prison cell.

Very nice mocs. The smallnes makes for movability but you can still put these togeter to create a world of your own. The dungeon is my favorite though the Scriptorium comes in a close second

Nice work. I like the dungeon the best. This is a very cool genre of LEGO building, I think if a contest was set up with cc it would be very popular.

I agree - a contest like this would be pretty fun.

It means a small vign, of course!

Yeah, I have to admit, something like that would be really fun and challenging. A contest like that would be open to anyone, since the number of bricks required is actually pretty low.

Thanks, all.

These are really fun to build because they come together so quickly--I knocked out those three in one sitting. It's also nice because I can keep these together without tying up a lot of my bricks. My original scriptorium, for instance, used up all of the light gray 1x2's that I had loose (I've got some other things to photograph and disassemble), so I didn't want to keep that up for long. This scriptorium vignette, otoh, only uses about 30 of them, so I'm going to keep this one together on my desk at work.

Oh, from dictionary.com, vignette: "3. a) A short, usually descriptive literary sketch. b) A short scene or incident, as from a movie." I mainly used that as a term because of the Japanese builders linked in the other thread.

Formendacil -- are you saying I've built Storytellers? Hmm,
