Colossal Castle Contest XIII - Master Builder

Post by Bruce N H »

Every year the Colossal Castle Contest inspires great building from lots of different builders, but there are always a few people who excel all around. The Master Builder award is given to the individual builder who enters at least six different categories and does the best all-around. This year there were several people with extremely impressive sets of entries, people like Aardwolf, Jaapxaap, josdu, KyleKreations, Marcu44, and Soccerkid6, just to name a few, but in the end there can be only one. I'm sure this is no surprise if you've looked at the list of winners and noticed how often one name comes up, but this year's Master Builder is ... drum roll please ... Dubbadgrim. Be sure to check out his truly impressive body of work, including those below, and congratulate him on his win.

Aye, but despite my 'extremely impressive sets of entries' I didn't even get a second place! Congrats Dubbadgrim though, you deserve it! Btw, I thought only the top six entries were judged for MB (somewhere it said: This prize will be awarded to the builder who... has the highest score when their top six creation scores are averaged), is this the case? I guess there's no real reason to doubt it, but just wondering ;) .

I would have been shocked if it WASN'T Dubbadgrim  Outstanding job- your quantity of extremely high quality entries made me wonder if you had a time turner or something. Congratulations! No doubt you earned and deserve it!

Josdu, those other names, including yours, are listed in alphabetical order. Yes, the top six builds are totaled for the MB. That composite image above is just a selection of some of Dubbadgrim's builds. I tried putting all 17 into a composite, but they would have been too small to see if I'd done so, so I chopped out half of them.

Thanks so much everyone, especially the judges for liking my entries! I'm very proud to hold the title of Master Builder for this year, especially since this site played a such a pivotal role in bringing me out of my dark ages.

Thanks josdu. I'm very impressed with your Tourney run so far, especially so soon after your strong CCC showing.

Thanks Aardwolf, I was lucky enough to have a lot of spare time towards the end of last year which coincided very well with the contest. And I may have done a few pricey orders on Bricklink to add a bit of variety to my entries :sly:

Thankyou Athos, that was a true powerbuild (in terms of time spent on it). Not a lot of flashy techniques but I was quite happy with the result.

Congrats to Dubbadgrim! It wasn't a big surprise, but you deserved it with all the time you've spent into this...in my eyes, you've got the talent to make a "classic"-castle style still look cool and enjoyable!

I think that's why I like it. It reminds me of that classic lego style that I like so much.

Congratulations Dubbadgrim! You had an incredible performance, putting out the most and undoubtedly the best in the entire contest. I loved the way you took a very different path on some of the categories, and never let your quality suffer despite the many entries you built. A very worthy winner, you should be proud to enter the famed halls of CCC Master Builder!
