Castle Vignettes: Princess Bride

Seeing Bruce's vignettes inspired me:

Images from Princess Brice, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and an original scene of two lovers meeting in a secluded glen.

"You killed my father. Prepare to die."

A great movie and a nice piece of work. Nice job on the details in all of them.

Very nice detail in these Vingettes. Amazing how much you can do with so little. This is a great way of building because both experienced builders with tons of bricks and the new builders who are just starting can make a masterpiece of sorts. This would definately be a fun contest.

I really like Princes Bride so your MOC of it is of course very nice. I'm not sure of the Spaniards face though. Doesn't look very "Spanishy". Never seeen The crouching Tiger movie but still great Vignette. The Lovers one is nice too. I like hom it seems very secluded.

Hey Lenny,

These are great! I agree on the Spaniard's face. Perhaps this one would be better?

It's been years since I've seen Princess Bride, though, so perhaps I am misremembering what he looked like.

I haven't seen the movie too recently, and while it was a hoot, i'm not certain which parts of the movie all the vignettes are from.

I do remember the Spaniard vs. the Man-in-Black (aka Wesley, aka the Dread Pirate Roberts), though. And I agree that the face doesn't match the Spaniard's cocksure attitude. Bruce's suggestion, or possibly Johnny Thunder, might work better. More inaccurate, perhaps, but more evocative of his character, in my humble opinion.

I thought about using the KK1 head and the Johnny Thunder head - but I felt they were both more headstrong than what I think Inigo was. I based the designs more on my impressions from the book (which was way awesome, everyone should read it!) than from the movie. the KK1 would be better if I was doing a more movie-accurate styling.

The idea for Inigo was to have him unshaven and rough, and somewhat upset at how suprisingly difficult this fight is for him.

Crouching Tiger is also more of an inspirational than a direct copy of the movie. The problem is communicating Li Mu Bai's age and experience in a fig head - and Yu Jen's youth and impetiousness. The big problem on that one is that the waterfall looks weird and out of place, and you can see my off-color support pieces in the background. this is an example of someone going too far to use Snot.

thanks for the comments everyone! I intend to be making a bunch more of these! they are a totally fun, easy thing to build quickly!

Hey lil Jon,

The beauty of these scenes is that they use a minimum of elements and space. The next time you're home you could throw together a shoe-box sized collection of small bricks, plates, accesssories, and figs and you would have plenty of elments right there in your dorm room without needing your whole collection (or much space to build, which is a premium in postage-stamp-sized dorm rooms).

Nice stuff Lenny. Haven't heard from you in a while, I was beginning to wonder Frances, Ivan, or some other such bother had washed you out to sea. Vignettes like this, and Bruce's "Psyco" scene are outstanding picute-speaks-a-1000-words examples. I can just recall lines from Princess Bride seeing this;
"Why are you smiling?"
"Becauz I know someting you dohn! I ham not lefhaned!" Say that with the over the top Spanish accent.
And your right, they are relatively quick and easy. Anyone could make one of their favorite movie scene. Hey do I smell a contest..? Hmm.

Those trees would be excellent for use in jungles. While I haven't seen either movie, my favorite is the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon one.
