Mega Medieval MOC Mania - LowLUG Contest

Post by jtooker »

I just learned LowLUG (a Dutch Lego Users Group) is hosting a castle contest: Mega Medieval MOC Mania.

I'll copy 's Aliencat!'s translation of the contest:

What madness is this?! A castle contest? In March? April? Whatever this month is?! And check out this cool drawing by Jalkow!

Do you build castle or medieval fantasy themed MOCs or want to attempt to? Do you speak Dutch or want to attempt to? Here's your chance to flex your MOC-muscles, the Mega Medieval MOC Mania is in progress.

There's 5 radical categories with 7 (did you say seven, Aliencat?! Yep, sure did!) amazing prizes. I'll translate the categories here, but check out the linked thread on Lowlug.com for the prizes.

Vignette

Build a castle themed MOC on a footprint no larger than 8x8 studs. Some overhang is OK.

Flora

Build a MOC centered around some form of flora, like a tree-house, castle gardens, or a fantasy inn under a giant flower.

Faction headquarters or outpost

Build the headquarters or a watchpost belonging to a specific faction. This can be an original LEGO faction, a faction from pop culture, or a completely made up one. The building could combine military and residential purposes.

Battle!

Build a battle! Anything from a duel to a full on siege or pitched battle.

Village Life

Away from all the military scenes, build something reflecting medieval village life. Were you able to build something for every category? Cool! You now compete to be Castle Champion for a chance to win a 6074! Were you able to incorporate some brick smack-talk in your MOC, to dishonor your opponents in this contest? Nice one, you may win a 6021!

All entries have to be posted in this topic over at Lowlug.com and you can check out the prizes for each category too! All prizes are donated from Aliencat's and Jalkow's personal collections. We're running this contest in the Netherlands, for Dutch participants, so if you're not from here and you win a prize, we may ask you to meet us halfway with shipping costs. I mean come on, we're only just getting over having to part with these amazing sets ;)

Now get building, masoners!

I have no idea, but I assume so. I'm planning on entering at least one category - I'll try to remember to comment back here with my steps/experience.

Don't know how many I'll build, but the categories and prizes are awesome, and I wouldn't want to miss a contest like this. Only thing I've got to do is register!
Thanks so much for sharing, I wouldn't have known anything about this amazing contest without you, Jtooker :D

This is my experience: (be sure to use google translate) First you register, which it asks you for username, password, birthday, E-mail (needed). Then press register! Then go to your email and press the link in the email to activate your account.

Second it's pretty easy to comment. Just in the topic of Mega Medieval MOC Mania, and at the bottom of the page it has a comment bar. To enter you need photos. That's pretty easy, just drag the photos from your computer into the MMMM comment bar. Once the photos come up in the comment bar, they won't actually appear in the post. Below the comment bar is "My Media", so click on that and press the "add to post" on the ones you want :D . Lastly, press Comment to post your entry.

Tip: Add text with your entry to make it more interesting.
I saw that JBM has successfully registered already

Good luck :D

Na, you don't. most people don't anyway, although it looks better if you have a white background.

And yeah, the contest is sure getting fierce! All the smack talk and great MOCs, its unbelievable!
