Here is my latest large project;

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=105730

It is built CCC like, with technic bricks and pins, so that it can be taken apart for transportation. I only have 2 parts done shown here, the gatehouse and a corner tower with some wall.

A couple of details I want to point out is the machicolations on the gate house

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1000492

and the murder holes between the portcullis and wooden doors

Questions and comments welcome.

Very good job, Troy! The wealth of architectural detail is enormous. I especially like the arrow loops in the guardroom. They are different than any I seen before. Keep it up, I can't wait to see the finished product! :)

verrry nice. Deceptively simple.
Over all I like the modularity :D
the details are nice and simple with out being cluttered, and overwhelming. I really like the way you can get inside.. nice way to play.

Great job so far! I've seen plenty of good castles before, but only a few of them are so well detailed. Please finish it soon.

Thats pretty nice. Modular structures are always good.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Did you notice that there are bleys in the mix (all the capstones, some arches and bricks)? I decided to get over the colour change issue and bought 1000 bley pieces off of BL. It is more work building because I purposely tried to mix them in so there would not be big patches..... Another 1000, preferably 2 x 4's and it will be easier.

I did notice the Bley, but I didn't say anything because I can't quite decide whether or not I like way it makes the old gray look yellowed in comparision.

It is an impressive structure though, modularity is always good.

Really neat! I also like the simpleness which Freak mentioned earlier. The black, red, and gray blend really well togeather. I actually really like the affect of Bley with Grey. The whole thing is really well done.

Ever notice how real life gets in the way...... I built a bit yesterday and finished it off for now. I have the interior of the keep to finish (some fiddlely bits on their way via Bricklink) so no pics of that. Plus real life stuff prevents me from uploading all pics at the moment. LMKWYT.

Very nice. I really like the way you put points on those bricks that come up off the wall. I don't know the correct name for that castle structure. This is what I am talking about:

Neat!

Well, not much more to say after everyone else's post... but I wanted to give special props to the battlements... I know it's a simple detail, but they are kind of unique and add a really cool touch. Really great work!

Actual Machicolations & Murder holes!
Very cool!
The level of detail on your fortress is awesome!
Didn't really notice the bley bricks in there myself.
Excellent work!
