Shipping prices for Lego

Post by fcarcanague »

Not sure if this is the best place for this so here goes...
Approximatly what SHOULD it cost to ship a 1 pound package (train parts, blech) from the USA (me) to someone in Germany (purchaser)?
The USPS says $15, the purchaser says other BL sellers can do it for about $6. The parts (train engines) would not fare well in an bubble mailer going overseas, thus the shipping does cost more since it is a box. If any of you seller here know of a better way to ship this package to Germany please let me know wither here or via PM.

Thanks
Fred

You are posting in the correct forum.

According to the USPS page Parcel Post is $14.

This is the type of overseas shipping I commonly use. For some reason, economy parcel post is very expensive. You may be able to send this with Letter Post if you fit within the size limitations. I did this once with a mailer envelope and it reached the Netherlands in 2-3 days (which isn't typical at all) but my package weighed much less than a pound.

This package should be less than a pound, only 3 train engines in the smallest box USPS gives out. In the US it would have been the cheap flat rate box for $3.85 or something.
I did consider the bubble envelope but affraid the boogie pins would get crushed.
I'll keep checking around, if anyone knows a cheaper way to ship US to Germany I want to know.

Here's an idea...

Send it in an envelope, but put a 1x1 round over the boogie pins. That should prevent them from being crushed and rounds are pretty cheap...
