since i'm now hooked on the ninja sub theme, here are some ninja customs that i made for my ninja tales story i'm making and my army of samurai, etc. (coming soon to mocs ) http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1052320
the ninja stars i made by cutting out the middle of one of these:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=44855
the small katanas are butchered cutlasses
there's a mutilated danju sword too, and a few shields with stickers

Your Wakazashi are really neat, and I like the idea of putting stickers on the diamond shields. the stickers on the other stuff are a litle messy, but nobody gets it perfect first time. The throwing star is pretty nifty too, though I would suggust sharpening the other three points, too. I'm looking forward to more neat Far East stuff from you! One question: Why is the right-hand guy in this picture holding Aquazone harpoons? What are they supposed to be?
Oh, and if you should want any help with Japanese (Kanji and such, or just straight language) feel free to PM or email me. Ni sen kan nihongo o benkyoo shimashita (I've studied Japanese for two years). Daijoobu tsukurimashita, nakanaka joozu da yo! (Well made, you're really good at this!)

About the Shurikens ("ninja stars"), the "real" ones used by Ninja are more like spikes, think pens but entirely made out of metal and with a very sharp point. I guess the screwdriver minifig piece would be more historically accurate for your Ninjas to use.

to answer to lord mikal, that is what the right hand guy is carrying.the "real" ones used by Ninja are more like spikes, think pens but entirely made out of metal and with a very sharp point
the reason the stickers were put on messy was because i wanted to make them battle-worn
my other far-east stuff: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=110142
there are some other customs in the far east stuff
i know its not historically correct, my stuff is mostly fictious with a bit of history

Well... being born in the Far East... well the Philippines in Southeast Asia to be more specific I have a keen interest in the history of my peoples. And I've been closely studying the armor types, weapons and etc. of my ancestors.
If you need some help to make your MOCs and Customs more historically accurate I'll be glad to give you assistance.
So far I've gathered a good collection of pics and info about:
~Chinese
~Korean
~Mongol
~Tibetan
~Siam (Thailand)
~Viet
~Khmer (Cambodia)
~Burmese
~Japanese
~Malaysian
~Indonesian (Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulewasi, and etc.)
~as well as Pre-Spanish Philippines
types of armor and weapons.
For one thing, the straight blade sword was not foriegn to East Asia. Infact many of the countries and regions I just listed had them. Platemail, chainmail, and llamelar armor was common. Many warriors were trained to fight in waist deep water fully equipped which was especially true of the islander peoples in my country the Philippines and in other island regions like Indonesia's Java, Sumatra, and etc.
Some warriors such as those in Southeast Asia were armed with very long pikes much like the Alexandrian Greeks. No doubt those were used against enemy war-elephants which were used not just by India but by Saim, Malaysia, and the Khmer with great effectiveness.
Other notable SE Asian weapons also include large 5 to 6ft tall Longbows were used not just for hunting but for warfare as well. Other farming weapons which resembled a sickle (with a 2.5ft blade) were used for chopping trees during piece time and cleaving enemies during war.

Here are some Budiaks (spears/pikes) from the Philippines.

A small Panabas (sickle weapon)

A medium sized Philippine Kampilan or Klewang as its called in Indonesia with a 30 inch blade.
