Colossal Castle Contest II - Master Builder

Post by architect »

It should be no surprise that the Colossal Contest Master Builder for 2004 is

Pat Morgan

But the race was really close. Really, really close. Coming in at second place is Sir Nelson. Pat beat Sir Nelson by just .2 points!! In honor of Sir Nelson's achievement, he will be also be receiving a prize (still to be determined).

Sir Nelson and Pat completely owned this contest. Pat entered a total of fourteen MOCs, winning best Historical Customization with his "Brother Padraig", while eight others were recognized as a honorary mention. Sir Nelson entered ten MOCs, winning best Seige Weapon with his "Warwulf" seige tower, while seven others were recognized as a honorary mention. Between Pat and Sir Nelson, they were named 17 times on the winners page – which is an amazing 20% of all people mentioned.

So an extra congratulations to Pat Morgan and Sir Nelson for such an impressive array of creations this year! We are going to expect big things from you two next year!

I'd also like to bring attention to everyone who qualified for the Master Builder category. Each built at least one entry for seven different categories – an impressive accomplishment. In no particular order, the Master Builder runners up are:

Didde, Ed, Forester, Josh Wedin, Lord Mikal, Norro, Piotr Lomero Rybak, Psu_Ericksen, RubberChickenKnight, Sir Bert, and Yaron Dori.

Congratulations to each of these excellent builders!

Lenny and Ben E.

Yup, no surprises there! Big congrats, Freak! You really deserved it! And congratulations to Sir Nelson, also!
And props to all the runners up. This contest was amazing; I'm looking forward already to next year's. :D

New name: Freak the Mighty!

Congrats, dude. Also to Sir Nelson. You two both had really amazing bodies of work. All of the others listed, as well. I would also add Greg3 to my list of overall builders--while he only entered five MOCs and was therefore not eligible for the Master Buider, he won or got honorable mention with four out of five, which is a pretty amazing record. Kenn Oldham was another who only entered a few, but placed on thee out of four entries.

I agree with that. Sometimes quality needs to be emphasized over quality. Both Greg3 and Kenn Oldham blew me away by producing both!!!

Oh, and congrats to Freak. That was quite the body of work there.

Later.

I really enjoyed building this year, I feel I had a better grasp on what I wanted to build, and some better ideas on how to build them. Everyone who entered should be proud of themselves, and I know just looking at the entries page is enough to send a person scrambling for bricks. There is just so much inspiration.

Thanks for letting me play.

First, let me say this - Congratulations, Legofreak (aka Pat)!!! To quote Ole Kirk Christiansen, "Only the Best is good enough".

And to think that I was beaten by only 2 TENTHS of a point! No wonder it took the Admins so long to judge this contest!! :)

Still, I am very happy to learn that I won an unexpected consolation prize to the Master Builder category - Thank you Admins! :D

And thanks, everyone, for making Classic-Castle a great place on the 'Net!

Sir Nelson

Congratulations Legofreak! It seems like everywhere I looked, there was another MOC by you entered in the contest. And they are all great creations! Nobody deserves this win more than you.

So, have you submitted your application to TLC yet? :)
