Carney has built another tower style castle...
http://12.223.136.182/burnchurch/index.htm
This one has some unique looking battlements!
Other than that, it's sort of boring but I guess his castles are only as good as the actual ones which he builds his after.
Don't be disappointed though, Carney's next project is "Bran Castle"! Some have given it the nick name of "Dracula's Castle".
It should be interesting.

I think the way people say it here seems extremely negative. Yes, he could use a more speckled look, but its a real castle its based on, but he has done a few castles with interior and detailed walls, etc. Perhaps not enough, but I think we should treat people with respect anyways... Hes over 50! Respect your elders!
"Its crap" Isnt enough of a comment...

I don't find it that bad, any castle I would build that size would have to be in every colour. Still it does look alot like the real version of it. It could use some trees and other plants around the outside to spruce it up alittle.
All hail the Pillar of Grey

Personally, I don't mind the...grey-ness. The castle that he's building it after isn't really mottled. Yes, the design is rather boring, too, but that's again the castle he's basing it on. The thing I think would help it, without differing from the real one, is to landscape around it. Obviously he has the parts to do so.

I agree, but it
is a little on the boring side. You have to admit, though, those battlements do look pretty cool.

If anyone else built this it would be highly praised. Carney gets crap for these small simple Towers because he can build masterpieces (look at his Die Wartburg) but he often gets sidetracked. Sometimes I think that it is his goal to build every obscure tower house from the British Isles.
I think that he should try to work in more of a weathered look to his castles, instead of his right-out-of-the-box look. He should throw in some color or texture, some vines and plants, maybe he should build some of these in the ruin state with cracks and holes. I'd like to see that.
Carney's models do not need interiors however. Considering the size and degree of acuraccy that he need to build these too it would not be practical to make rooms, interiors, and furniture and of course it would be nearly impossible to furnish the castle as it would have looked at a certain period in time. Also hinges and pins would make his castles look silly.
I do look foward to Bran, it is a very complex castle with all its angles and colors and shapes. I hope he at least builds some of the hill that it rests upon. I think most of you will be surprised by Bran and hopefully he won't be sidetracked again by a little tower house.

I'm glad to see the real windows. It may be simple and maybe boring, but I like it anyway. I would not have built it this way, but he did a good job.

Carney’s castles may look a rather dull (and so do mine) but one have to bear in mind that castles originally were mend to be buildings for defence purposes.
All the refinements and ornaments were added during later periods when castles became dwellings for the rich people and lost their need for the defence of the inhabitants.
Being a LEGO-fan (and a castle-fan) you can think of building a castle in several ways.
At first, there is the typical LEGO-style. Most people do this. They make nice looking castles, with many minifigs, and - sometimes - beautiful lay-outs.
Others, like Carney, try to build their castles as real as possible. He put it more or less in the present time and does not bother about minifigs.
Some people (like me, for instance), go even farther. They implement also all the details like the original thick walls inner walls, latrines, chimney flues, fire places, etc.
They even choose a different scale, in order to get a better height/wide-ratio…..
Of course, no way is better of lesser. I like Carney’s castles because of their realness. But I also like a good-looking LEGO-layout… Or a well build Cinderella castle..
It is the quality of the MOC, and the intension of the builder that counts.
And above all, the pleasure one has when building it..

Hey,
I have to agree with those who said that this is a great interpretation of the real castle, it just happens to be a pretty boring real castle. That said, I do enjoy the ones where he's dressed up the landscape or added figures more than the ones that are simply "bare" castles.

Bob Carney has a distinctive building style, I've always been a big fan.
