Welcome to Stroudwater Castle

Post by xiblal »

I am for the most part done with the Keep that I have been working on. I think that I will change the roofs of the towers a little. I have posted three photos on Brickshelf and I will post more tonight as I edit them. :)

I agree with wizardnoob -that is one huge keep! seriously nice details though. I love the roofline, and the overall shape really puts me in the mind of some Irish keeps. Does it open up? Are there four ramp/staircases going up? don't tease.. :D we want to know!!

The staircase at the entrance was done perfectly. I am jealous of your skills and your tan! :D

I have to take some photos over again, so It will be a little while, I am hoping Friday. When I get them done I will post them on brickshelf and also my web space so you wont have to wait for it to become public.
Does it open up?
Yes it does. Opens up like my other castles, in layers. So you can see all the rooms. I have not done much for inside furnishings yet. But I plan on taking photos of the inside as well.

I have been thinking of doing a base for it but the castle is so large that I have to think about how to do it.

GAAA!!

When I saw your teaser pic from the top, I didn't think it was going to be like this. This, this, this is incredeble. It such a cool building, and its tan too. Did you copy from a real building? Awesome job regardless.

Wow, the scale of the Keep actually looks accurate compared to the mini-fig standing in one of the pics.
This could pass for an actual keep!
I love the over-all design.
Very strong & thick looking!
It could probably take a beating!

Woah! That thing's huge!
It looks really nice, I think the gray and tan work nice together.
Can't wait to see the inside.

I got the photos on brickshelf and they are public already!!
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=136839

Also some other facts about the castle.
It is built to minifig standards. If I was small enough I would be able to walk through the whole thing. There are stairs and doors to reach every room!
It is five stories tall (a totle of 73 bricks tall)
there are more than 6128 square brick of floor space.
four fire places that with a flue that goes through the castle!
a large stable with stable storage
a sally port on the ground floor
a kitchen with a prep room
6 bed chambers
a large great hall
a large great chamber
armory
barracks
and a secret chamber
the stairs are built within the walls that are 8 bricks thick.

Also the castle weighs 145 lbs:)

If you have any other questions feel free to ask

I hope you all like it:)
-James

Also I based the castle on bunratty castle.

Though I changed some of the floor plane it looks a lot like it on the outside:)

145 Pounds!

That looks like a pretty nice castle to me. My first thought was that it was Bunratty, I love that castle too.
