Japanese Vignette and Minifigs

Postby Dunechaser » Sat Aug 27, 2005 12:26 am

Taking a brief break from Narnia vignettes this week, I built a simple little vignette of an old lady who has just left an offering for a Jizou statue in a bamboo grove:

Jizou statues are representations of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva in Japanese Buddhism. Guardians of children and travelers, Jizou line roads and mountain paths throughout the country.

I also created a bunch of Japanese-themed minifigs to go in future vignettes (or not):

Let me know what you think! :)

Let's see some more! I really like this one. My one suggestion would be to put something in the pack so that the people are bent over for a more apparent reason (more brown wands to indicate wood?).

I like the vignette. It's very simple. I really think you captured the scene well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone!

Graynar, the old lady's head is from Professor Mcgonagall, available in this set:

I bought mine on BrickLink, since I already had about seven or eight Harry Potters and at least two Dumbledores.

Nah, I'd say this is the proper forum, as this isn't really related to Japanese castles, just a Japanese themed vig.

On the vig, Duney, I really like it. It conveys a mood really well. I actually blogged this yesterday after I got back from my brief vacation.

Your statue really captures the spirit of monuments! I like how it's situated in the green hill, and how it's in harmony with the forest. Very inspiring!
