Hello everyone!

I was wondering, can someone give me a list of examples of how to build a ruined building, either burnt or blown down? I would need this for various battle scenes, and my new space city. Im sure more people will find it interesting too. :)

Hey,

Lots of the WWII builders include bombed-out buildings in their dioramas, like this by Shaun and this by Tony. Not quite the same thing, but Adrian has a cool nuclear meltdown. I really like Derek's burning house.

Hope those give some idea.

I have built two buildings that might help. Both are really old (and a little embarassing), but oh well.

This one and this one

The burning church was originally this MOC (warning: the link is to a thumbnail, the actual pic is old and big) and I was tearing it apart I decided to build a diorama around it. The horse stable was supposed to be a ruined building that was rebuilt. For both of them, I built an actual building and then tore it down to get the right effect. I have tried building ruins without doing that and they haven't turned out very well.

Hope this helps,
Josh

PS. I just remembered one other that I built...this one. Its a bit better and the things I said above, apply to this MOC too. Except that I did build the causeway in a ruined state originally, but the building was built whole first.

Thanks guys! I have yet to see a building blackened by fire though, but I guess I will need to experiment a little on my own with that. :)

i would admid to use 1x2 bricks as the bricks of the/a wall (like that: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/KingA ... ngeon1.jpg) and then stop, when you think it looks right. you can get more variety into your MOC, if you build walls, that are more than one brick thick...

you also can use plates instead of bricks...

this is just my idea.

Someone on here once posted a tavern that had a scene where figs were building a building... The framework was perfect for a burned out building. I'll leave Bruce to find the actual post. :D

Postscript: Josh, those are embarassing.

Here are my ruins. This is what I figure a tower looks like years after the destruction has occured.
