MOCs Inspired by Age of Empires

Back in October, Dragon Master started a discussion (in the Medieval Life forum) about Age of Empires III. That reminded of how much I enjoyed the previous version, so I got out my copy of Age of Kings. The graphics in that game are so great that I was inspired to make some of the buildings in LEGO. I spent most of Thanksgiving weekend building but I didn't get any photos made until now.

Let me know what you think.

I think these are great! You have really captured the look and feel of the originals. Makes me want to start playing it again. :)

I've never played the game, but I really like these MOCs. Nice Tudor styling!

Hey Stephen,

Very nice all around. I particularly like the way you did the corners on the roof of the marketplace, and also the top part of the tower in the archery range.

Are you entering any of these MOCs in the CCC?

Great buildings! Very accurate to game. My favourites would have to be the market, and the archery range. Next you should build a wonder... :P

I think the market is my favorite, but they all rock. They are instantly recognizable (to those who spent many hours playing that game).
Did you have to tear down one to make the rest? because man - I would love to see them all together in a town layout!

Great job

Those are great! You should make a castle next  Or maybe a university? Great job man.

That game definately could provide a lifetime worth of inspiration. Man I love AOE.

I think I like the archery range the best, because of the tower, but also the barracks, too. I really like the second floor entry with the pulley on the blacksmith shop. Great job!!!

Those MOCs really do look like the models in AOE2. Awesome job. Age Of series is an incredible source of inspiration for both Medieval and ancient history. In my ox cart and watch tower, I was inspired from Age of Mythology.

Your MOCs look good, though I never played or owned AOE2. I do have AOE3 which is also cool. 8)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'm glad that you all enjoyed the buildings.

They're not really my ideas, I copied them from the game. So I won't enter them in the CCC.

I was able to build them all at once, (the five of them use ALL the windows that I have!) but I didn't think to photograph them together. However, I did make a Town of smaller half timbered houses about two years ago.

Thanks! The doors are the regular round top castle doors, but I squared off the frame to make them look rectangular. The door on the ground floor actually overlaps the the door on the second floor by quite a bit, so the top one can't open.

I'm just starting work on a different project, so I won't be doing any more AoK buildings for a while. Maybe you should do some.

Even though I've never played AoE these mocs have a very realistic look.
Good work Stephen :)

Wow, great job! They really look like Lego-ized AOE buildings. Now you just need to make the:
Castle
University
Church/Mosque/Temple
Tower
3 varieties of Houses
Gates & Walls
