I don't come over from Classic Space much, but I've been trying to expand my thematic building. If you haven't seen it already, take a look at my gnomish treehouse:

Thanks

It's funny, when I first saw the pictures on Brickshelf, I totally missed the racoons, and didn't know they were there till Bruce pointed them out on Lugnet.

Great work! I love the toadstools, especially that big one. To tell the truth, I've been collecting pics of toadstool designs for future use; I really want to make something very whimsical like this.

The house and tree are built well, but I keep focusing on all the animals and the toadstools, they're all just fantastic. I'll certainly be stealing... err borrowing many of these designs.

Yeah, that's a good word for it. "Whimsical", I like "whimsical" things. :D

Great job on all the little brick-built animals, and I like the way you used droidfighter wing pieces for the roof.

Welcome to CC, too.

Excellent! A very magical look. The mushrooms!, turtles and snails..very nice. Psychedelic Gnomes :D

To make a suggestion... Build land scape...like a river flowing by it. The turtles and snails need a place to go....and maybe have the gnomes fishing.

Again..excellent.

Edit..looking at it again, I noticed the mushrooms serve as steps. Good idea!

Cheers.

The big toadstool was something of a challenge. The 4x4 dome doesn't have studs on it. So inside, there is a brick and plates riser with a magnet holder on it. The magnet just barely DOESN'T touch the dome itself. There's an inverse magnet holder on the 8x8 plate, and the magnetic pull is enough to hold it on. Allows for a little adjustment of location and angle too!

Glad you like all the little details. Whimsical has been one of my favorite concepts since Lucas used it to explain why Stormtroopers would ride Dewbacks.

Wow...that is really fun. I agree with Anthony, very whimsical. My favorite detail is all the animals. Great job!

Those little animals are awesome, and what a collection of them all in one place! They're very well built... I couldn't possibly pick a favorite.

Nice!

Ah! The mushrooms are quite excellent! I do like the tree as well -- Lego makes it pretty tough to get a good-looking tree going, but your's is great!

I love it! Life in the deep forest! This is how I imagined it listening to faerie tales as a kid. Very well done. The racoons are my favorite part, my I like it all.

Does anyone have a link to Lenny's article on how to build these mini-minifigs? I don't understand what holds on the arms. I haven't seen them before and they are ingenious.

I loved this the second I saw it on Brickshelf -- I'm glad you posted it here. Wonderful tree, nice toadstools, and absolutely fantastic brick-built forest creatures. My favorite is definitely the smallest turtle.

Welcome to Bricklink, I hope we see more MOCs and posts from you. :)

I like your MOC, and most of all the little green turtle. Thanks for sharing this!

Same here... that is a really great look, although I also have to admit to staring at the animals and toadstools more than your well built house and tree (that tree is really cool-looking).

It's good to get some non-Castle builders contributing here to CC - and coming up with novel ideas. 8)

I'm trying to re-broaden my scope. I've spent maybe too much time building space, and am enjoying building castle/fantasy models.

In fact, I started another one last night. I'll be sure to post it when it's done.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.
