Need help from a member that is good with photoshop.
I wasn't actually sure where to post this, but I need some help from someone that is good at working with photoshop. Don't worry, I will reward you if you want the prize. Everytime I try it in GIMP, it shuts down. The whole Layer thing is very difficult to do, and I don't really know how to do it. There is one member besides me that might know what it is for. (Graynar) I PMed him about something and this is for it too. Please Gray, don't say what it is though.
I would really appreciate the help. I need it badly.
Thanks,
BJ

I don't really use Photoshop (I prefer the GIMP), but I'm familiar with it. Perhaps if you said what sort of help you needed I could point you in the right direction. I'm guessing it has something to do with layers, but I'm not sure. I'm confused as you didn't really seem to indicate what you needed help with.

I'd be interested in helping as well. What's your problem?

How is it not appearing right? Can you provide a sceenshot, or the two images you are trying to put together?

What you're trying to do is called compositing. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by not appearing right. Could you post an image? Or e-mail it to me?babyjawa wrote:Um well I am trying to put one image on another. Or something like that, but when I do it as a layer, the one I am trying to put on top isn't appearing right.
EDIT: beaten to the punch by LOTL
Otherwise, take a look at this compositing guide and the two previous guides. Perhaps, they will help you figure out your problem. To see some GIMP examples of compositing, you can check out the the first project from one of my graduate school courses (not really some of my best work ).

That is fairly easy to do on photoshop. Someone would just have to lasso or magic wand the background out of a layer and put the scroll as the background. The difficulty depends on the figure you have a photo of and the background behind the fig. So it could take from 10 minutes to an hour to do it well in photoshop.babyjawa wrote:I am trying to put a picture of a minifig on this...

Ahhhh :!: I now see your problem. The two images you're trying to use are both GIF files. GIF is an indexed color image, which means it has a limited number of colors that it can use, called a palette. Every pixel in the image must be represented by a color in the image's palette. The two GIFs you're trying to use have differrent palettes, so when you try to add the Black Falcon on top of the parchment, the image must be converted over to the parchment's palette, which causes the Black Falcon to look more greenish (at least it did in the GIMP).
To fix this, simply open the parchment image, then go to the "Image" menu and select "Mode", then change the mode from "Indexed Color" to "RGB Color". Now add the Black Falcon in like you were before. Good luck and let me know if I'm wrong and you need more help.
EDIT: Check out this thread by Lord of the LEGO for a little more info on GIF, indexed color and transparency.
