This minifig is......Knight of the Cross!

Knight of the Cross was released in 1983 for Classic Castle. He is included in the original Castle and includes a white old style visor on gray helmet and a gray surcoat with red and white cross stickers.

I can only say: I wish I had a serious number of those helmets, I think they are cool, but the armor is bad. I also think that the helmets are easy to costumise, what is a bit nessesary, becouse the front is a bit boring.

I really like the colouration of this guy - the only white knight we have in Castle (with the possible exception of King Jayko). The helmet looks good - the best version of the original helmets there is, IMO. I also wish there'd be a legend of 375, if only for this guy - but I doubt that heraldry would be allowed now...

The only downside is the armour - it's basically just a flap with that neat Crusader/Danish/English/etc. heraldry stuck on. I understand this is due to the non-existance of euro armour back when this guy came out, but all the same, it does look a bit weird, especially compared with that awesome helm.

Still, a great figure, and easily my favourite Classic fig.

That's actually incorrect. The original Castle (that contained this guy) was released in Europe in 1978. The Castle wasn't released in America until 1983.

Plain white fig. Hard to get too worked up about that. You have to use a lot of imagination to think of that stiff tabard as "armor" and the sticker does not hold up very well, though at least it is a properly medieval. Several better armor designs followed. Really, the only interesting part of this fig is the unique helmet, and that really means the visor. The art-deco plume was replaced by a superior choice of colors and designs with the separate feathers, but hey, you didn't lose it so easily. But I do wish this was still available - its design still holds up very well, and it isn't clunkily oversized like the KK2 visors. The white works with the otherwise plain white fig.

Yay, a classic knight review! :) I reallky like this knight, as he is classic and very collectable, and he has one of those sweet visors. I do, however, like the other classic calvery knights a lot more, so I hope to see reviews of them!

it has a maltese cross on it, which is the first real life knight that seemed to have been made.

I've always liked the heraldry on this guy but have thought him boring otherwise. Too plain for me...

The helm is interesting and makes a difference. I wish I had one of these but have never seen them until my first visit to LUGNet some 5 or 6 years ago (regretably 1978 is too far away). The thing which attracts me most is the Maltese cross on the armour which makes it more realistic. Unfortunately the contemporary sets have to be "politically correct" and each and every year they get more and more toyish look.

My thoughts as well, though I like the 'armor'. I really like the idea of that as a surcoat or tabard. Otherwise, I don't really think he's that great. I mean, Classic, sure, but what makes him cooler than a viking or even shadow knight? I have a feeling he's going to get alot of good reviews, mostly, I'm guessing because of his rarity.

I kinda like this one but only for the helmet and the device on his armor. If he were fully armored/armed he would be cooler.

I've noticed a lot of you dislike the armor. Want to know my plan?
When my bricklink order of this guy comes, I'll peel off the sticker on his armor and put it on a euro one. Ta-da! Real armored knight of the cross. Though I have to ask any of you with this guy - is this possible?

I like this guy, yes, even the armor.

I don't have one, so I don't know if it's possible (or what you mean by that); but, it had better be light grey euro armor, because that is not a transparent sticker. It's grey.

Its possible, but not likely. That sticker is over 20 years old, so the odds of it resticking after being peeled are not good. But let us know how it goes!

Josh

PS. A better bet would be to print out one of Anthony's stickers and put that on euro armor and leave your old, expensive fig alone...

Edit: I feel kind of silly now. I went to find Anthony's sticker of this heraldry and...he never made one. I could have sworn that he did, I must be losing my mind. So, never mind what I said about that.

This is a good minifig! Good colour scheme, good helmet, good design on the coat of arms. The only downside is the armour peice, but I guess that's what Lego had back them, so you've got to respect that they actually had armour plates, not just torsos.

Very well done Lego,

Personally I am not a big fan of this fig or the other original knights figs. The heraldry on this fig is not bad, but some of them were aweful. The "armour" is flat and boring. The original helmets were flimsy, I have several where the chin part is busted off. The visor is alright, realistic enough I suppose and I don't mind that the "plume" is built in. But frankly this fig doesn't have much going for him.

Now, at the time he came out, compared to the other figs available, he would have been the coolest thing ever. But pretty much every castle fig since this one has been better. Even the KK2 stuff is better, IMO. (Except the KK2 swords, of course).
