AoJT V: Johnny Thunder and...?
AoJT V: Johnny Thunder and...?
Its about time I started planning for the fifth story. And I thought I'd try something different this time and let my readers decide where Johnny goes this time. I have five options planned:
1. Johnny Thunder and the Sins of Shambhala
2. Johnny Thunder and the Heir of Osiris
3. Johnny Thunder and Valhalla's Stepchildren
4. Johnny Thunder and the Mirror of Circe
5. Johnny Thunder and the Heart of the Sun

It was pretty much a tie between Valhalla's Stepchildren and The Mirror of Circe for me, but I voted for the Mirror because it just sounds more intriguing right now. Besides, I'm in the mood for a good Greek adventure....
Will you be getting to all of these, by any chance?

My vote went for "Johnny Thunder and Valhalla's Stepchildren" because it sounds more castle/viking related but after reading eNiGMa's post I must say that the Mirror sounds good too.

You're must be new here. Here is the thread from the latest one:Steve, you have Johnny Thunder stories? Where?

And the brickshelf gallery with all of them (Here is the order: 1. Cave of Terror, 2 Blackheart's Gold, 3 King of the Gypsies):

I hope so. I've got a couple of others in planned too, but want to wait a bit before starting them. Will you be getting to all of these, by any chance?
Of course, the one I have the least planned out for. But at least I think it will be fun to write.I voted for the Mirror because it just sounds more intriguing right now.

Wow. You've actually planned all of these already? In that case, what takes the longest to do from there? Is it harder to build or photograph? How long does the writing take?

Circe for me. Just curious, what part of the world would The Heart of the Sun take place in? It's okay if you don't want to tell.

Hey,
I went for Circe as well, as I'd like to see your Greek-style MOCing. Of course TLC is providing the elements right now for a Viking story, so that would be my second choice.
E of Alshire asked about what was the biggest hindrance in presenting a story. For me this comes down to two things. First, the photography - I have been known to have a MOC sitting in a corner for months before I got around to photographing it. That can get frustrating because if it's a major MOC it sometimes uses up a lot of my collection and prevents further building. For instance, my Minas Tirith streets sat around forever, using up pretty much all of my gray bricks and plates and also all of my door and window elements. This is one of the benefits of vigs to me - a vig doesn't consume many bricks and so if I decide to leave it together it doesn't really impact my future builds.
For me the more major problem, though, relates to the nature of a very large project. I feel like I can't present a story or a chapter of a story, for instance, until it's completely done. This might involve MOCing several different scenes and photographing and editing each. So it gets frustrating that I can't present something I've made because it's waiting on finishing some other MOC that will be involved in that story or chapter. It's tempting to turn aside from the large story project and make some stand-alone MOC that I can immediately present and get feedback for. Another thing that distracts is that if I do too much planning of the future scenes in a story, it feels like I've already built them mentally, so to do it in the brick isn't as fun and new as turning aside to some other thing that seems fresh and presents new building challenges.

Shamballa, since I want to see Johnny Thunder in more asian adventures (and there may be a chance he fights nazis, hehe).
Did not vote Valhalla since I can see myself whine about small things probably only I care about.

Well, I ended up voting for cicre too. I'd love to see some grecian adventure! This isn't to say I don't want to see the other too, though.

Looks like Mirror of Circe is in the lead. Looks like I need to start working on my greco-roman building techniques. This one should be a fun story, though I don't think it will be quite what you all are expecting.
Building is the easy part. I can pretty much build any scene I can envision (within reason). Photography is tough, as the flash reflects wrong or the picture is blurred.
Steve
Well planned isn't really all that much. It just means I have some very vague outlines worked out in my head. So its a long way from planned to ready to publish. The hardest part is probably writing. Sometimes transitioning between events I want do is hard. For example in the latest story, I really liked the idea of Pippin in the life-raft and wanted to put some scenes of that in the story. But I knew the majority of the story would take place on land, so I had to figure out why she was on the raft and then why she got off the raft. Or, in the gypsy story, I had a hard time figuring out how to maintain the status quo and not lose any characters. So often the long delays are the result of not knowing how to get from one event to another. You've actually planned all of these already? In that case, what takes the longest to do from there? Is it harder to build or photograph? How long does the writing take?

Aztec or Inca... I'm actually glad this is the least popular, as I only have the most minimal ideas for it.Just curious, what part of the world would The Heart of the Sun take place in?

How about Johnny Thunder and the Pina Coloda Under the Palm Tree?
Or Johnny Thunder and the Land of 1000 Naps?
Geez, Johnny, take a break!
That's one hard working fig.

How about Johnny Thunder and the Lightning Kid?
Seriously, though... I voted for Valhalla's Stepchildren. The Viking sets make for some good storytelling.
If Vikings are involved, maybe it should be called Johnny Thunder and the Hammer of Thor.
Or, of course, Johnny Thunder goes to Mars! :!:
"Old Wizards never die, nor fade away. They just kind of operate behind the scenes and in the shadows... doing all of their weird and wonderful Wizardy things and whatnot."
Johnny has fun too, as evidenced by this beach party:SavaTheAggie wrote:How about Johnny Thunder and the Pina Coloda Under the Palm Tree?
