Hey! Personally ( ) I think it's totally OK that it took this long. Man I've got things I've been meaning to do for years and with nothing as complicated, time consuming, or exciting than a baby or a career, let alone both at the same time!
haha well, dang, I'll just say it now, I was really excited about this contest, it was a really great idea, but I'll say now (though I noticed a while ago, I didn't know to tell people, or even who to tell really...) that my entry was waaaay too long. I got the 20 pages long part...but in my excitment I missed where it says it had to be double-spaced... ...ooops. But as I said, awesome contest, and I really look forward to the next one!
(and as Athos suggested, a little help with the judging might be in order, eh? )
EDIT: and may I say, uber congratulations regarding River (that's a wicked name too )!

Ah, that was just the explanation I wanted to hear. Thanks a lot, Lenny! And don't feel bad, it's all sorted out and all are (I hope!) happy now.Glencaer wrote:To give more of a background to this issue - this contest was my baby and I probably wouldn't have given over the main responsibility to anyone else. More prodding might have worked, but Bruce and Ben prodded me a fair bit. The key issue was my own prioritizing of my time, between school and baby, I just didn't include time for CC. In part, you can see this by how much I post, which is nil. All effects and purposes, I'm retired as an Admin.
Most of you guys don't remember CastleWorld before Classic-Castle, but that was a classic story of a single person keeping something from growing, developing, changing. Even if I dropped off the face of the planet and this contest was a bust, the site went on, the big annual contest was held and was successful, and lots of other things have happened. CC's success isn't tied to one person, even if one contest was.
The other side of it was that I had all the prizes and it was my job to ship them. I'm moving in a few days and to be honest, that prodded me to act more than anything else. That and the shame of it taking a full year to judge >_<
And, yes, River is very cute indeed! A KISS fan-to-be perchance...?
I suspected that, but I still thought it was the best one..Shurtugal wrote:haha well, dang, I'll just say it now, I was really excited about this contest, it was a really great idea, but I'll say now (though I noticed a while ago, I didn't know to tell people, or even who to tell really...) that my entry was waaaay too long. The thread has sat dormant for 8 months, but was still stickied at the top of the forum. If I simply unstuck it it would disappear (well, it would take it's rightful place with other threads from August 31, 2007), so I always add a final post when unsticking a thread. That way if someone wants one last look it will still be on the most recent forum page, but will march down into history with other threads lacking replies as new threads start up. If you notice the other threads, I included modified quotes about freedom in all of the threads I freed. Perhaps my sense of humor is too odd and I only ended up amusing myself.
Oh, given the last post before the thread went dormant was actually a question to me, I suppose I should address Steve. My silence on this was probably answer enough. I didn't do the judging on this contest, so I didn't spend enough time going over the entries to have a detailed thoughts thread like I do for the CCCs.
