Finished-Citadel of Orlan

Post by Zacku »

Yeah, I know "real" LEGO Orlan has been done before, but I wanted to give my spin on the idea of a Fantasy-styled citadel. I just started working on it with the top of the tower (or something... I dunno what this is going to be yet).

Also, before anyone asks, yes, that is an ungodly marriage of Bley and Grey... Hey, I've gotta work with what I have.

I like how you used the crappy huge castle pieces, and made them fit in.

Not bad. It doesn't say "Citadel" to me though. It looks more like a keep.

I guess I'll change the name, then. I was just using "Citadel" as a placeholder.

Anyway, more progress:

Wow, with that update, now It's looking like something, no offense. I just thought your first posted pics were your base, not part of the tower. Looking good.

Lol, Most castles are built from the bottom up, not top down, so I naturally assumed that the first pictures were as high as it was going to get. It looks alot more impressive and deserving of the name "Citadel" now. I'm not a huge fan of those 4x1x2 grills you have as windows in the white section; if you don't have any more of the rounded windows, you might try putting the grills in sideways. You've integrated those big castle wall sections very nicely at the top, too. Keep it coming(no pun intended!) :P

I must admit I was skeptic about it at first but it turned out quite nice.

Nice way of posting a MOC. At first we didn't think much of it but you kept adding more until we fell off our chairs.

Great combination of old and new colours! It looks great if not a bit blocky. I hope we see more of these new and old combos. :D

I agree with everyone else in saying this is well done. It looks very sturdy and solid like a realistic castle, but has some interesting features and color as well to keep it from being boring. Also, nice job setting up the stream and the little landscaping.

Finally, I like what you did with the KK2 knights to make them look like pretty decent-looking citadel guards, and that BM ship is one of my favorites.
Knight Templar
n. pl. Knights Templars or Knights Templar
1.A member of an order of knights founded about 1118 to protect pilgrims in the Holy Land during the Second Crusade.

Gongrats on the way you chose to present this MOC, although I nearly missed the finished thing!

Great usage of the raised baseplate, nice scenery and selection of figs. Another good point is the massive structure it has its own heavy presence and dominance over the surroundings => citadel fits perfectly for me.

The only minus IMHO is the Bionicle creature.
