...on sale at target.com right now for Black Friday price of $49.99.
I checked my local Target and the deal isn't showing up when I scanned the UPC, so I'm guessing the sale price doesn't hit until Friday.

I would wait on that. I bought two VDFs for $25 (USD) at target. A few months later, they were back on the shelfs, back at $100....
Maybe history will repeat on that
But that isn't a bad deal, don't get me wrong. But what sane person is really going to go out into the massive crowd of shoppers the day after Thanksgiving? I'm... hesitant.
Thanks for the heads up, none the less.

His point is that the Black Friday sale (i.e. Vladek's for $49.99) that should go live on Friday on their website is live right now. Thus you can buy the same item for the same price now without going out on Black Friday.

Thanks BruinDrew for restating that. I guess that I should have put on sale NOW, not just on Friday, but I didn't.
Also, FatWallet's rebate for target.com is 6.4% right now.
As for buying the set on dirt-cheap discount, once the clearance discount hits 35%, all the clearance Lego disappear that morning in my area. I'm content to buy it online for about 55% of original price (including taxes and shipping).

I didn't really mean that post as a "This sale isn't that good" post. I am just stating that at target, legos clearance very often, sometimes getting marked down 75% after a few weeks. But if you can get it online for the same low price... it is tempting now!
I guess my point was that legos at target, in this case, clearance to lower prices (maybe not down to 50%, however) often, even if they are going to restock. The VDF I bought, for example. After they were gone from clearance, a couple weeks later they were back on the shelf, full price again.
I totally get it now. Wait.. something I don't get. What is the "FatWallet's rebate?"
Thanks,
Felix
Sheesh, that is really early! I hope you get to go to sleep early today.I will. I plan on being at the first store at 3 a.m.

The FatWallet rebate: If you start shopping at FatWallet, click on their link to target.com, and shop that way, instead of going directly to target.com, they will refund you 6.4% of your purchase price. At least that is the way it says it works.
Basically, target.com is reimbursing FatWallet for their advertising expenses (and driving customers to target.com) and FatWallet reimburses their members for shopping through their links and FatWallet keeps a cut to make their money.
BTW, Lego.com's rebate is 5%. This might help with the anemic "Brick Friday" sale this year.

P.S. I just signed up for this and have NOT received any "rebates" yet, so I will willingly edit the information out of these post if I'm not satisfied with FatWallet.

Interesting..
I was just sitting here reading the flyers with all of the lovely sales and deals, this was one of the things that was really appealing, but alas, my mom doesn't take well to the crowds, so we never go out..
Another thing that was cool was some TRU 50% off Lego sales.. Maybe I'll go check that site now.
Thanks for posting, I always love it when people share the good sales.

EDIT:
Awww.. I just made myself sad by reading this line:
Stores only
Oh well..
