Seed Part Challenge - Feb. '07

Post by SavaTheAggie »

Well, it's been a whole year since the last one, why not do it again?

What is a Seed Part?
A seed part is a part that you use to create a MOC. The part acts just like its' namesake - by adding parts in and around your seed part the MOC grows into what it will eventually become.

What is a Seed Part Challenge?
The Seed Part Challenge is designed to take parts that are not usually used in a theme, in this case Castle, and work them in in new and brilliant ways for others to use in their MOCs.

The Challenge:
Build a Castley MOC using the Seed Part. You may use one or you may use many, but your creation must be based on the seed part (i.e. the seed part can't just be stuck on the side).

The Prize:
Fame and glory and little else. This is a challenge, not a contest.

The Part:
Transparent Elements

You may use any transparent element of any shape, size, (transparent) color, or quantity, so long as it/they are an integral part of the MOC.

Remember - transparent elements react well to Black Lights. If you are so inclinded, feel free to take advantage of this.

The Handicap:
Flame elements cannot be used as fire.
No torches, cause that'd be too easy.
The MOC must use at least one instance of SNOT involving a transparent element.

Reply to this thread with your MOC(s).

Ready?

Wait for it...

Go!

I feel ashamed to ask this, but what do you mean by SNOT for the transparent elements?

SNOT is an accronym for Studs Not On Top. It's when you use a LEGO piece where the studs face any direction except up. For example - attaching a plate to the side of a headlight brick is SNOT.

In this case, at least one of your transparent elements must be built into your MOC by some form of SNOT.

Can all be worked in by snot? I've just built a vig with lots of transparant pieces...

Also, maybe the prize could be a temporary funny title or something of that sort

I'm off to build! Thanks for the pointers.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a couple of transparent rods from a Star Wars set, so I might give this a shot.

What do you mean by integral? If I make a shipwreck and use flames as seaweed, is that integral?

Oh yeah first entry!

Meal of the Year [my integral part is flames as dulse]
The Viking chef, Erik, has prepared a delightful meal...with dulse! Yet, he has entrusted the chieftain's meal to the clumsy butler!!

Didier Enjary just recently put out an Unofficial LEGO Advanced Building Techniques Guide that shows many useful examples of SNOT building.
