Re: What were your first Castle sets
My first Castle set and (I'm pretty sure) the first set of Lego that was actually mine rather than my brother's or sister's, was 383 Knight's Tournament. I remember that very clearly indeed, because it was just so brilliant. I never got the yellow castle, though. I once had the opportunity to have i...

Re: first half 2010 catalog released
A couple of new photos have been added to that Brickshelf folder, including some new games with new microfigs. The ones in Pirate Plank look particularly cute...

And when I say how long, I mean how many weeks. My guess is two and a half. Gosh, you're patient... Not sure I'll last that long. I'll look forward to seeing sirJacob's turtles, though, and all the other cool ideas imaginative people are bound to come up with. For myself I don't think I can ...

Re: CCCVII Entry: English War-Cog
Looks great. I've always found it very difficult to make ships like this look properly medieval in their lines, but you've nailed it, I think. And the dockside buildings are neat, too.

Yep, that's great - I really like the architectural detailing too.

Re: Lego piece naming
I've also met a guy who refers to all bricks and plates by the number of studs on them. A 2 would be a 1x2, an 8 would be a 2x4, etc. Not sure how he differentiated between 1x4s and 2x2s, though. --Tony Sounds familiar. My sister would sometimes name them that way - where it was necessary to differ...

Every part of this works really well for me: the landscape, the tree, the castle. A new favourite of mine, and an inspiration.

Good call. One of the less absurd Fright Knights sets, and not a bad selection of parts. I'm not saying I want more than one of those heads, mind.Username wrote:This set would have made a great Halloween impulse set.

Well along with the lack of royalty, I don't see any magicians in this set either :P You can't have magicians without magic but I don't see why you can't have magic without magicians... This was a great set, and it's not just the nostalgia talking. I positively like the design - it's less gi...

Re: Weekly Set Review: The Final Joust
Nice figs and plenty of weapons, which is always good. The gold slopes are a bit annoying, and don't even work well in the primary model, as they give the barrier a front and a back, which seems inappropriate. That's a quibble though, and the rest of the pieces are all useful.

Re: Are the New Castle bad?
I'd far rather have eight or ten standard dark green plates rather than a huge lump of plastic i'll never use. Agreed. And I find it's easier to fill in the empty (not sure I'd say boring...) space in the courtyard of a castle with other bits and pieces of detailing if the walls are built on...

Re: Fortresse des Chevaliers Noir
Nice and solid-looking; I particularly like the keep with the turret-y thing on top as a way onto the battlements. The lack of overhang on the curtain wall doesn't look bad to me ( pace architect); it makes the towers stand out more if they have a different profile, especially in a relatively small ...

Re: Weekly Set Review: Battle at the Pass
Lots of rank-and-file soldier figs, which was unusual for KKII, though with the lack of shields that persists (to a lesser extent) into the present. The wall looked a bit more impressive in real life than in the photos, and anyway there are enough pieces to construct something else; a couple of sets...
