Cool contest, I joined just for it! :)

A little question, I have something that I made that wasn't originally intended for this contest, but now I think it could be a great entry! Is that allowed? I've never posted any pics of it (and it's even almost finished! )

Can you be more specific on the size guidelines? I've heard 32x32 and 32x48, ect. I'm a little confused.

When you say only 3 pictures, do you mean that you can ONLY take 3 pics of that MOC, or only 3 pics are allowed when submitting that entry?

A premature thanks for your inevitable answers, I'll really enjoy being a member here! :D

I'm not sure about the first question but...

As far as I can tell, minimum size is 32x32 (for castles), and maximum size is either 2, 32x32 plates, or one 48x48 plate. (The 32x64 gives you 2048 studs to work with, while the 48x48 gives you 2304 :) )

It doesn't matter how many YOU take, but to save room on the forums, only 3 pictures of your creations are allowed when submitting an entry.

I hop that helps!

Ohboyohboyohboyohboy yay :D .

Can't wait to try my hand at a few of these, especially castle evolution (I'm feeling somewhat inspired by the recent release of fable three).

If the entry in "Pastoral Life" has a building, can that building be a cutaway?

I just thought of a couple of things I could use some clarification on.

(1) what is the limit on SNOT bases, as I didn't see anything about them, and SNOT water is something I frequently use.

(2) does the mythical battle actually have to include mythical creatures, or can it just be something magical or epic (wizards, miracles, really evil lookin guys Ect.).

(3) In the evolution, does it have to paralell reality (Romans, medieval, imperial, victorian, and modern), or can we dosomething crazy like first scene flintstones, second scene castle, third scene nuclear apocalypse. I like aocalypses

(4) Is realistic (in the realistic castle category) meant to imply a castle with a realistic layout, or just a catle devoid of mythology? For instance, I have a giant tower on a sheer rock in the middle of a river. It's about the least realistic castle design I've ever come up with, but there is nothing about it that would be impossible for people to make in medieval times, so is it in or out?

Thanks in advance for any answers :D

This category should focus more on animals and people in a large natural landscape than a building (ie: stable/barn). A cutaway would be less appropriate for this category.

Yes, you can use snot water. However, other water techniques will catch the eyes of the judges as standard snot water is commonplace.
(2) does the mythical battle actually have to include mythical creatures, or can it just be something magical or epic (wizards, miracles, really evil lookin guys Ect.).
This fantasy castle category can include wizards, castle zombies, etc. You are not limited to dragons, elves, dwarfs, etc.
(3) In the evolution, does it have to paralell reality (Romans, medieval, imperial, victorian, and modern), or can we dosomething crazy like first scene flintstones, second scene castle, third scene nuclear apocalypse. I like aocalypses
An earlier time period should be realistic (stone age, bronze age, neolithic man, etc). Use your imagination for future times. An apocalyptic site could be appropriate. We recommend adding natural landmarks and/or structures that are found throughout the ages of your mocs.
(4) Is realistic (in the realistic castle category) meant to imply a castle with a realistic layout, or just a catle devoid of mythology? First, we are not looking only for a tower, but a complete walled castle. It may be better to enter your castle in the miscellaneous category. Please pm an admin with a photograph of the moc. Thanks.

so should a full-on farm be in misc.?

Can there be part of a building in the background? Not the focus, but part of the scenery?

Thanks Ben,

the castle I mentioned earlier was more of an example of something that I'm not sure about fitting with the description(although the actual model has retaining walls, but they are pretty overshadowed by the main tower). I probably will enter the afore mentioned castle in the misc just to be safe once I finish the landscaping it.

It could be in miscellaneous or possible medieval maintenance if peasants are cleaning or repairing the buildings.

Yes. Buildings are allowed but the landscape, animals, and peasants should be the primary focus of the category.

Oooh! It's finally here! Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to compete this year. I've been thinking of ideas for it for the past year, but I'll just save 'um for next year probably. Who knows, maybe I'll squeeze one in. There are some pretty sweet categories and prizes.

Best of luck to everyone, I know I'm looking forward to the awesome entries. :D

Hey!

Like every years, yet great categories for the CCC8.
a question:
A medieval steampunk like the darkspawn "Troll-Crusher" is it permissable for Mythical Battle or Miscellaneous categories?

Thanks

It is definitely permissible for the miscellaneous category. Mythical battle may be better if it had mythical creatures and not machines.
