Hey,
I'll bet you thought we'd forgotten. These things take careful study and deliberation. Here are the winners for the CCCX Cross-Category awards. Drumroll please:
Historian - Use your entry to teach us something about medieval life or real historical people and events.
Kumplekante taught us about an English tradition going back to the early sixteenth century with his
frost fair. For this he is awarded the title of Geoffrey of Monmouth.
Friend - Include elements from the Friends line (even figs) in a clever way.
Fraslund showed us that minidolls can push the English back across the channel with his
Joan of Arc. For this we name him Mellon.
Collectible - Prominently feature a fig from the Collectible line (any series).
The CMS have given us many useful figs, and Timinator used the elf here in his
Ill-advised journey. He becomes the Bailiff of the Figs.
NPU - Utilize a 'useless part' - that is, one that is definitely not intended for castle building (aside from a Friends part, I guess).
Andhe's
Wake up and smell the roses probably is the funniest npu ever. He becomes our Barber Surgeon.
Scales - Somehow mix scales in your fig-scaled MOC - maybe by incorporating microscale to give forced perspective, or introduce a giant to your minifigs, etc.
Elephant Knight's
Troll escape uses all kinds of perspective tricks - mixing different tree types, minifig and gamefigs, the tiny castle, and stepping the road width down from 8 studs to one. Until you look closely, you may not notice that the back of the MOC is about half the width of the front. He becomes our CC Spriggan.
Humor - Make us laugh with your entry.
Nanuck kind of owns this category, always coming up with funny MOCs, and this year's
wrong way, Ted is no exception. He returns to his throne as court jester.
Best Use of Duplo - Use Duplo to give your castle MOC that extra edge. (Hint: We need to be able to see the Duplo)
Mencot's
robber baron is great in that it seamlessly incorporates the Duplo into a System MOC. He even made a custom torso and shield for the guy on the right to match the heraldry of the Duplo shield. He becomes Twifealdlic Builder.
Finally, as an additional title, LL gets the name Alan-a-Dale for his series of Robin Hood MOCs.
