Pets vs. Lego

Post by TwoTonic Knight »

Lock up the Lego! Run in terror! The Slavering Beast with a taste for ABS is on the loose!

One of the Elder gods (my pet Senegal parrot, Loki) took one look at the bin of spare figs and made a beeline towards it, scooping out a nice Senegal breast-colored Biggs Darklighter with funky helmet on.

The dog loved "action figures" and their softer, chewable plastic, but seems to have outgrown that (perhaps because I keep him well-bribed with squeeky toys). The cat is fond of shredding cardboard, but doesn't even look at the Lego. The birds, on the other hand, take one look at the bright colors and figure that Lego is a toy that I expressly got for them.

So vote for the pet-type that has mangled, warped, shredded, scored, pierced, or mutilated the most Lego in your household!

Yes, Biggs was rescued, but I took my time about it.

I only have a cat, but he definitely enjoys the odd Lego piece. I'd imagine a dog could do more damage, but since I'll never have one, I voted cat.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

My cat isn't necessarily dangerous to the LEGO, but he does get in the way of building. One of his favorite little games is to jump up on the table and bat things around (pens, pencils, LEGO elements) and watch them as they fall off. Of course if I have bricks spread across the table because I'm building, I have to keep chasing him off the table. He also likes to fall asleep right in the middle of whatever I'm doing--for some reason he really likes to sleep on baseblates (maybe the little bumps give him a massage?). So I'm always picking him up and dumping him off to the side, but then he starts to think this is a game and does it more.

My dog Ritzi tends to chew up all my lego sharks... he seems to think that they're chew toys.
Don't make me angry... I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.

Ok - as far as damage I don't know. BUT - I had a cat one time that was accidentally locked in my lego room for the day.

with NO cat box

Yes I ended up sterilizing A LOT of lego that night.

IT WAS NOT FUN.

LEGOFREAK: Wow! That couldn't have been fun!

Well, when our dog was a pup, he used to shove his nose down in the 'ol Lego box and always happened to dig up my skeletons. Of course, I usualy wasn't there when he did this, so I would find chewed up bricks, legs, and skeletons all over the place! He also chewed up my awsome Stormtrooper action figure...

Thankfully, I don't have any pets. We have horses, but they're more of a hobby than anything else.

I voted for dog. Ever since I got a dog, I haven't left LEGO unattended downstairs (he's not allowed upstairs). So he's never really chewed any LEGO piece up. However, we track his hair/fur upstairs and I hate it when I get dog hair in my LEGO... :x

Hello!

I don't have pets. Luckily...
But there are other small creatures in my home that have an impact on my LEGO: They produce dust. :-(

Talking about yourself there, Jojo? I've been told that most dust in the home is actually little bits of dead skin.

My cat peed in the lego bin about a year ago. After cleaning them I began to start sorting them in smaller containers.

It was gross though,

Agreed. My dog chewed up three of my bushes, which were rare for me at that time. Boy, did that dog get a whoppin!
