I've been out of the Lego loop for a while... What's this about battery operated figures? Minifigs that one cannot customise, change, or otherwise take apart? I always thought that was one of the major strengths of Lego, the fact that you could do whatever you wanted with it.

Am I the only one that noticed that TLC stopped making light-up figs? Take a look at Lego.com, and you will notice that the Clone Turbo Tank has a non-light-up Mace Windu, look at the police station- you will notice that the light-up flashlight is gone. We have no need to worry about light-up castle figs. We should be safe.

I kind of liked the few light-up Star Wars figures I got, as novelties. But that wears off after a day or two. Unless they can figure out a way to contain the light-up mechanism in just the torso, I don't think they'll be viable in the long run. If we wanted figures that weren't interchangeable, we'd buy, dare I say it, OFF-BRAND! Dunh Dunh Dunh! But I don't want figures that aren't interchangeable. So, there you have it.

We must band together in the fight against battery figs!
Seriously, though, if LEGO makes battery powered figs a fixture in new lines, than they have hit rock bottom. I will have lost all respect for them, and I would only buy LEGO of the good old days, off ebay or bricklink. So please LEGO, for your own sake, do not bow down to electronic temptation!

This is a fairly old thread, and it doesn't seem quite relevant anymore.

I think LEGO has stopped making light-up figs a while ago. For instance, in 2005, LEGO released #7261 Clone Turbo Tank, with a light-up Mace Windu. Then, last year, they re-released it, this time with a plain Windu fig. I highly doubt that we would see a light-up castle fig, especially now that they seem discontinued. Besides, even in the new line, the only person who I could see as needing a light might be the wizard (i.e.: for a glowing wand).Spongey wrote:We must band together in the fight against battery figs!Seriously, though, if LEGO makes battery powered figs a fixture in new lines, than they have hit rock bottom. Learning French.
Say it "ESS-MICK-GIN-ISS", with a hard "G", as in "get".

The villagers, who rise up against the evil wizard, would need light up torches.
Josh
PS. Before some literal-minded nitpicker jumps on the bandwagon, I am aware that there are no villagers in the new castle line...

Or maybe we could have one with a noise maker so our warriors could give a battle cry?
This idea isn't too terrible, as it would only affect the head and torso and not do anything to the arm and legs...

I was wondering about that. My brother got it last Christmas of 05, and his had a light-up. I got it last Christmas, and mine wasn't light-up. We have been talking about it, and considered emailling LEGO to ask if there had been a mistake.smcginnis wrote:For instance, in 2005, LEGO released #7261 Clone Turbo Tank, with a light-up Mace Windu. I think that a little Lego knight yelling out battle cries would be awesome. I would love to see a little yellow smiley face yell out something like “Death to the enemy”. I know it wouldn’t happen, but it would be very cool.
