Stapelaar (?) is doing some really cool things at the Belville scale. I was particularly interested in this [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1427884]stone bridge:

They show step-by-step how they made it. First they built the [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1406354]basic framework with bricks/plates:

Then covered that with [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1406356]tiles:

They built up the road surface with [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1406357]1x1 tiles on plates:

Notice that these plates all run across the width of the road with none running the length, which allowed them to [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1406359]curve the road surface over the framework:

and [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1406361]hold it into place:

I wonder if the curving surface would work better with a baseplate?
Other details that would be of interest in castle building are the spear fence and the [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1483756]arches over the windows offset by half a stud:

and all the great multicolor mottling, as seen in [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1501572]this stairway:

There's some really nice landscaping as well; particularly check out the [url=http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1602087]little sandbars in the river.
