The structures are so well put together. I love the way he builds up and not just out. There is so much detail in each layer of the construction.

I also love the photos. How does he keep them so clean and crisp looking? Is this from the lighting while photographing?

Like, wow! That's amazing.

He most certainly is one of the best. And I too love the photography. The colours are bright and bold throughout-even in normally shadowed spots. Excellent. I've got to look at these more tomorrow. Pity he isn't a member here(at least, I assume he's not).

I stand in awe (ok I'm sitting) at this master of our hobby. What a great trio of mocs. I like the magician's lab best. The details are very involved, yet easy to understand and identify. Are these part of a larger whole Bruce? If so please share url's.

Takeshi Itou is one of the masters of the craft. I read somewhere (Lugnet?) that he usually photographs a MOC and then disassembles it for parts. So I don't think there is a link to a full scale layout, but he does have a website. http://home.att.ne.jp/apple/hachi/ce_top.htm
there are some really excellent creations on that site. Japanese only, but the pics are great.

Thanks Will. Those are fabulous! I wish I could read his notes on the MOCs. His elevation changes are outstanding along with his inclusion of water and flora. Those touches always round out an MOC by placing it in context.

I was looking at his site earlier...man...makes me wanna cry. It's all so NICE.

And his landscaping and terrain is spectacular. Wow..... His castle on the dam is especially nice; very original...

You have to have both the money and the Time!

Even with both, I don't think I could create these. They are truly art. I bet he could sell these for much more then the cost of the pieces :idea:

I think the flow is amazing

. It is hard to create the random rocks and hills and grass. Planning a truly three dimensional MOC is difficult!

Takeshi Itou amazes and inspires me every time I see his art. If you'll notice, his MOCs aren't that big (of course, the size could be fooling me); they're just so detailed! All his MOCs shout "DETAIL"! I thinks one of the things that make his MOCs so "artful" and flowing is his mastery of curves. He makes curved shapes so effortlessly! Oh, if TLC would only take a not-to-subtle hint!

I have translated a lot of his commentary using Babelfish. The translations are pretty terrible, but I have gleaned that he enters many of these in shows/exhibitions and has won first prize in several. He refers to Ultima Online and Everquest. Also, even in these rough translations I can see that he is concerned with a pieces "balance" often criticizing his own work

Here is the translation for the "south inlet fortress" using babelfish. Does not well translate

Like Aidan said, even if I had those pieces (which I probably do) and all the time in the world (which I don't), I wouldn't even come close to the level of detail and "completeness" that Mr. Itou's creations embody. All of his models flow very nicely and are wonderful representations of a snapshot of what life back in those days might have been like.

Mr. Itou has an excellent sense of vision - something that I am lacking miserably. My only complaint is that his pictures are too small!
