Black Falcon castle sets

Post by Knight David »

Out of the past 'Black Falcons' castle range, which set is your favourite set, and why?

The best one is 6018 Battle Dragon because it is a Black Falcon set....

Ok, just kidding. I really like 6073 Knight's Castle.

Sure it is the ugly sibling of 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress, but I like the brick selection, mixture of stone and brick, and the brick built jail.

Hello!

I don't. However, I have got a soft spot for this set because was the first Black Falcon set I got.
For parts and looks I like 6074 better, though. And in the smaller sets range I really like the catapult 6030. Can't have enough of these.

And 6018… Well, hm, I guess Lego just wanted to make us wonder.

Just wondering if the 6085 or 6086 count as Black Falcons themed sets, because if they do, I would count them. I know that they're Black Knights, but isn't that still the same era?

6085 is a Black Monarch's set and 6086 is a Black Knight's set. The last Black Falcon sets 6059 (and maybe 6018) were made in 1990. Of course 6074 was released again as a legend and there is a Black Falcon shield in the Harry Potter Durmstrang Ship.

An interesting fact but 6073 was a better value than even 6080! For one the castle had 408 pieces at the price of 27 dollars! While 6080 consisting of 664 pieces was at 52 dollars. If you multiply 6073 by two you will get 816 pieces for 54 dollars, more than 6080! 150 pieces for two dollars extra! Good deal! :D

I liked all the black falcon sets. One of my favourites (though) was 6059, I know it was a black knight wall/gate but it was the only set where the black falcons had the newer armour with visor.

I'm gonna go with Ben on 6073 over 6074, primarily because it has four shields whereas 6074 only had two.

as a parts pack, i think 6073 is definitely better. (ALOT of double inverted slopes, and lots of great generic grey bricks)

but as a set as a whole, I prefer 6074 by leaps and bounds. I think the design of 6074 is much more aesthetically pleasing, and the specialty parts (falcon flag, yellow wall piece) are very nice.

Good trades with: Chrislad77, kelderic, Strider, Unknown Knight and ZIGGY!

6073: I like the red brick door and green flags :D
Although 6074 comes a close 2nd - I like antisymmetric castles (they are more aesthetic and more efforts gone in to desiging them).
