A little off the current topic but: The new castle will be the largest lego castle ever. Acording to the most recent pic. of its box it will have wopping 973 piece count. Now you can say what you want about juniorisation and wall pieces, and that may be true, but no other castle in Lego history will have equiled this size. Though VDF comes close. Sorry if I just pointed out the obvious, or if everyone already knows this but I hadn't seen anything about this earlier. I am now officialy very excited about this new castle.

Interesting observation. Save for the dozen or so in the dragon, that's all castle and figure peices. That'll be mroe than in VDF, since the good knights had a ballista and such that ate few more pieces than that dragon wil.

You can observe from the traditional castle wall pieces in the set that it will be quite large scale. I think brick count will be deceptive, as there will be many fiddley bits for dragon, people accessories, etc. but it should be at least as big as the Kings Castle 6080 - maybe quite comparable in terms of floor space?
Note the use of traditional castle corner walls, and using train windows (2x3x1) in a two-wide column between them; instead of a single piece. That's the kind of positive flexible brick use I like to see!

Again by looking at the new box it apears that the knight has a very simple face, probably not the basic smiley but pretty close. This should make those traditionalist smiley lovers happy. Besides you can switch the more basic smiley with the more detailed infantry heads. Lego probably did this because they reasoned that the face would be covered by the visor anyway so you wouldn't notice.

Good point, however there are plenty of instances in which the toy fair pics aren't quite the same as the finished products. For instance the traditional faced skellies. I think I also saw a skelly with the old flopy arms. As seen hereleaf_of_lire wrote:I did see on a Toy Fair picture the knight had Rascus's face. Would show link but I do not know how.

I never did see that skeleton with those arms, and I did not know that Toy Fairs were so wrong. I don't know anything about Toy Fairs.
maybe a tad off-topic but.
did anyone notice in the large catalog picture that there were large trolls coming down the mountain behind the wizards tower?
Would have been nice to seen those in a set!
I have seen them before, and if you look close you can see they have Lego pieces on them. So they could come out in a set.

Sweet, this is what I've been waiting for for a while! I really like the printed armor on the King, and I REALLY like the new maiden, especially her torso, it looks way more realistic than ones from the past.DNL wrote:![]()

very very very nice indeed. The King and Knight are spectacular, the maiden flawless. The sorcerer is not the greatest but acceptable, the legs are great and with what I think appears to be a star wars 'royal guard' torso, the cape and hat just dont seem to flow with the fig though (lets not mention the use of the ogel face) anyhow things look geared up and ready to hit store shelves. Can't wait.DNL wrote:
