How to make Confederates

Post by Chrislad77 »

I've been trying to assemble some american civil war confederates out of legos. I've got alot gray kepi's and dark gray legs but I can't find a good torso to match, I know a lot of people here have a great knowledge of Lego pieces so hopefully you can spare me some searching through bricklinks piece inventory.

*not sure if this is right section I just guessed*

Ok - you could try these, but I dont know how well they would work if you want to keep it official... maybe yes maybe no. (pics = links)

OR if you want to customize a bunch of plain grey torsos, you could get someone to whip up a copy of the Union soldiers, put them on clear decal paper, and there ya go. (pic = link to folder with variations on a theme)

Good luck

You, sir, have come to the right place. 8)

Now then, for Confederate soldiers:

This one is probably your best bet. Another choice might be this. This one might look good with swapped out arms (although it is bley :? ), and I've also seen this used, but the fleshie flesh is kind of distracting.

For officers, some good options are this, this, and this.

EDIT: I see the Freak has beat me to some of these. I never could quite figure out how to link pictures from BL. :?

As the others put, I would have to agree with them.

Here is a thread I started about the same thing: Clicky!

Here was the result: Bloody Lane!

sigh.. the trouble with being a little OCD is that you just have to... fiddle with things.

thanks for your all your help, the torso with the with the two pistols is probably what I'll try to obtain in large numbers. Despite modeling some I am terrible and nervous with customization though I will look into it if find standard torsos becomes too long a process

Patrick, you're amazing... those are fantastic.
The bottom link seems to be broken, though.

LegoFreak, these are great! One slight problem....the belts should say CSA (Confederate States of America.) Although some leaders simply had CS belt buckles, the majority had CSA on their belt buckles. Oh, and the bottom link doesn't work. Still, I love em! Thanks!

Thanks for the comments, and Falcon, I just copied the union ones from Lego. They said US, so I put CS. I started to put CSA, but then decided since these are going to be really small anyway... may as well do what lego did and not get too fancy. :D

I have always been very interested in the civil war. You did a good job on these. Well Done!
