I´ll try to do some LegoHammer figsLEGOFREAK wrote:wow! great stuff!
I had seen the steam tank quite awhile ago too, but didn't realize that this is where it was from. I wasn't reading any WH books at that time.
nothing to stop a team project from working on it here you know. (and it looks like the imperials are going along pretty well)

Or how about A Song of Ice and Fire LEGO? Or Lord of the Rings LEGO? Or Conan LEGO? Bran Mak Morn? Kull? Solomon Kane? Dragonlance? Forgotten Realms? Basic D&D? The Black Company? Eberron? Thundercats? He-Man? Druss? Wheel of Time? Stones of Power?
The list is virtually infinite of random licenses that could be tossed out as potential LEGO sets. But, and I mean no offense here - all that amounts to is pipe-dreams. You could name any license you happen to like and say "LEGO should make this" but in the end, it's a bad idea. Firstly, licenses are expensive. LEGO is far better off, financially, with in-house themes rather than borrowed ones that they have to pay for. Likewise, in-house themes allow the company to do what they want and produce what they think will sell, rather than appealing, with a license, to a very specific market.
Look at Avatar. What did that get -- two sets? And how well did they sell? I certainly don't own either set. Warhammer sets might offer some cool new pieces, but nothing that LEGO couldn't produce for any number of in-house themes. There's really just no reason for LEGO to invest in such an idea.
TLG would be far better served by creating a generic 'fantasy' theme that they could do whatever they want with, and not have to pay a license fee or royalties to use. The advantage of a generic fantasy theme would be that LEGO could borrow ideas from all across the board rather than having sets designed around one core design pattern that might not appeal to even half of its target audience.
No more licenses.

I think that while specifically licensing warhammer would be a bad idea the consept isn't altogether wrong. What I think would be good would be if lego came out with a fantasy series that had some sort of official lego gaming rules. You could buy packages much as you do in warhammer and then build armies. TLG could have several factions desined for war gamming but without the tidious mucking about with lisences.

I thought that'd been established already?Damien wrote:The list is virtually infinite of random licenses that could be tossed out as potential LEGO sets. (hehe, I'd also LOVE a Song of Ice and Fire theme too though)

This is what I was hinting at in my post, a little awkwardlyEmp.Justinian wrote:I think that while specifically licensing warhammer would be a bad idea the consept isn't altogether wrong. I am all up for a team project. I can add more of my imperial army on my Brickshelf folder very soon.LEGOFREAK wrote: …nothing to stop a team project from working on it here you know. (and it looks like the imperials are going along pretty well)
Not pipe-dreams. Just dreams. And from dreams come creations. And there is nothing wrong with that.Damien wrote:… - all that amounts to is pipe-dreams.
I would up for a generic fantasy theme. I think you may be onto a winner here.Damien wrote:TLG would be far better served by creating a generic 'fantasy' theme that they could do whatever they want with, and not have to pay a license fee or royalties to use.

I would agree with this. The endless 'How about this theme?' 'Good idea!' topics do get a bit tiring, especially when we all know it won't happen. The list is virtually infinite of random licenses that could be tossed out as potential LEGO sets. Isn't Castle 07 a 'generic' fantasy line?I would up for a generic fantasy theme. I think you may be onto a winner here.

Hey guys, I'm home again and I've built some Legohammer soldiers from Talabheim (those guys have the best colour scheme, I think). I've posted them on my Brickshelf. They´re in the Armies subfolder.
EDIT: I know the pics are a bit small, but that's because I originally intended to put them in this post.

I agree with all of the above, but how about some "I'm going to start building MOC's for this - anyone want to build with me?" threads?Sir Kohran wrote:I would agree with this. I'd like to see some of those. mostly because two heads are better than one. and four is better than two.. and don't take any plastic znigglings from the andromedeans.

This is a brilliant idea. So not only are we communicating over long distances, but we are building over long distances. Brilliant!LEGOFREAK wrote:…how about some "I'm going to start building MOC's for this - anyone want to build with me?" threads?
I like this a lot.
Absolutely :!:LEGOFREAK wrote:…mostly because two heads are better than one. and four is better than two.
