Fazoom visits a Castle? (A spacer view of a non space set)

Post by Admiral Giddens »

OMG A SPACER IS HERE... Lenny, hold me. Anyway, thought I should share this with your board. Take no offense to the castle vs space stuff... it's totally all in fun friendly rivalry blah blah.

The new lines of castle and space are intended to be a "return to roots" effort by LEGO. Both lines got direct suggestions and input from Ambassadors... and even hands on design by 2 (Grand Admiral concepting out the only spaceship in the new mars line).

Well, the jury is still out on how classic the new mars line is. But when we saw some preliminary pics of the castle, we all said about the same thing... "EWW CASTLE." No no, that was later. We all said, "man that really has the spirit of old castle, I like it, I want to get it for the good parts." Every one said it.

Well I just happened to see the 7093 set available and went ahead and got it. It's got lightning bits, an 3vil wizard with 3vil hat, new robot arms, and white exoforce arms. Plus new bley slopes. It's really designed well and was a fantastic fun build.

my website has the pics (but they didn't exactly order correctly on upload)

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the funny review. Your pictures show all of the different play features of set, the figs, and cool new pieces like the three lightning bolts. It really does have a nice selection of bley slopes in that skull.

My only major complaint about the set, which I still need to review, is the drawbridge. It breaks easily and can be raised but not lowered because of friction with the side walls. The set has great figures. I was surprised with the high level of printed detail on the wizard and princess.

I also think that it is really cool that LEGO would design a castle set that spacers would buy  Of course I ordered a few of the MM sets for myself. In time Space will improve. We were stuck with Knight's Kingdom II for three years. Eventually they got the hang of making Castle again. Im sure the same will be true of the space line.

Now I ask you...

How is a minifig supposed supposed to close the gate with this crank?

Awesome review! Pretty funny, too (Silly Spacers =P). My friend and I are planning on getting this set to convert it into the Moonshadow Temple from our stories.

Ya, the drawbridge went up and down ok with mine, but the headlight brick the chain is attached to would easily pull apart with play. Some simple reinforcement (4 elements) would have fixed that.

Space will improve as the castle line has. (i hope)

Very nice review. It cleared up some of my worries about this set, namely the drawbridge. This picture shows how it opens up, and it looks very cool. I think that I may end up getting this after all.

Hey Admiral. You may know me as Captain Wellington, or Thomas C. from Classic-Space. A funny little mix between space and castle. Also, welcome to Classic-Castle. Maybe you stay and go half and half.
