Don't abandon gold armour

Post by Sir Kohran »

I was pleased that last year Lego finally got around to making simple gold armour in 8813 and 10176. I liked it a lot and so I'm disappointed that none of the new stuff seems to use the gold armour (though the Harry Potter castle uses silver armour). Could we keep this colour of armour in circulation?

Ugh, why? Gold armour... surefire way to get yourself killed. I've never even used it for fantasy... but I certainly wouldn't mind gold accents on grey or silver armour.
...and that's how Equestria was made!

I'm sorry, but I can't stand the gold armor. Looks to much like the traditional lego flesh. Plus, gold is too soft and would be terrible for armor.

Gold armour doesn't have to be 'gold.' Works really well as bronze, actually. Likewise, let's not forget that 'useless' does not mean 'unused.' Kings and important personages not intending to do any real fighting (parades, late medieval 'I don't wanna fight' style leaders, etc) wore all kinds of elaborate and useless stuff.

I like the gold armour okay. I'd like to see it stick around, but only in small quantities. Silver and grey are way more important to me.
Forge not works of art but swords of death, for therein lies great art.

Mordred in the movie Excalibur had an excellent example of gold armor. Best reserved for a hero or anti-hero in small quantity as it should be.

Well it has a higher density than iron. But yes it is weaker... Also gold armor could used for kings or marshals but thats it.

I was referring to gold as a colour, not the actual element.

If you like silver armour, check out the Armada sets, since there are a lot of chrome silver breastplates.

As for gold, I like it as an accent colour, but definitely not as a main component.

Hmm, gold armor isn't really my style, at all...

I'm too much of a stickler for accuracy (or as close as I can get to it) to have gold armor. It would be too soft and heavy to actually wear as protective gear.

Thanks, but I meant the pearl silver from the new Castle sets.
And I agree with you- I just don't like the gold colour as a base, it's fine as highlights in small quantities.

I'd like to see more red and brown armor and maybe some faction crests on the euro armor.

I know that has nothing to do with the gold armor, but so be it.

I want more old grey and old dark grey armor.

Again, that is beating a dead viewtopic.php?t=10408.
