Astounding! Its been quite a while since someone has created a battle scene of this scale. I really like how you did all of your factions. You take colors that aren't usually used and made them work quite well. I have heard about that undead snail thing somewhere before but I can't put my finger on where. The scorpion was a neat addition. Do you plan on making more of the spider faction?

Thanks alot! Purple can be an 'evil' color in the right conditions. It's unfortunate that Lego hasn't produced more purple brick since it's a color of royalty.ottoatm wrote: You really have a talent for mixing pieces from different sets to make a really evil-looking army! I never thought of mixing Danju up to make an undead night, but the look is great.
Quite possibly. The dark tide wrote:Do you plan on making more of the spider faction?
Non-custom theme generation is a fun challenge. I try to pick two to four colors as a scheme, and pick parts that compliment it. For things like KKII, it's just a matter of expanding their color schemes and designing armies around the basic elements, such as visors, shields, and armor.
The Spider coloring is red, black, purple, and light gray.
Just as the Dark Falcons have the 'Eagles' as a type of 'cousin' faction, you can create a different 'wolf' faction to match wolfpack, or make 'bears' an ally to the bulls. They can all fill a niche in a legofiction if you want them to.
Thanks to everyone else who took the time to critique and respond to the photos. Unfortunately I don't have a pro account on flickr, so if I add more photos, some of them won't show up due to account limits. I'm wrestling on where to host my works.
Excellent point. I think a lot of us tend to do this, but it I don't recall it being discussed as a LEGO Castle story writing tactic. Surely it is worth looking at in more detail.Peppermint Pig wrote:Just as the Dark Falcons have the 'Eagles' as a type of 'cousin' faction, you can create a different 'wolf' faction to match wolfpack, or make 'bears' an ally to the bulls. I like the idea of the Bulls/Bears relationship. That's one I hadn't considered, but that could work. I always thought it more similar to the KK1 Leo shield, but a bit less cartoonish.

That's a tough call, I think, since it is the same animal. At least the barded horse is different enough from the elk to make a separate foresty faction, and much better than the monkey, in my opinion.
Barded horse seems like a norse looking symbol, so I'd postulate that it is a faction capable of blending elements of forestmen and vikings for a legofic.

Nice. You should enter this in the CCC.

Nice castle.
You've got some great things happening there. Still, I'd love to see a few more photographs of the castle itself. It seems like we're really missing out! Just a suggestion: try taking a few minifig's eye view shots. You've got a big castle there, and it would be great to see it from ground level with all of your figs seiging it.
I must say, I really like your armies. The plain-jane torsos and dew rags actually work well, making your troops seem a bit more salt of the earth. The fact that you have such variety in your troops further enhances the work. I greatly prefer these sorts of scenes to the ones with 1,000 clone falcons attacking 500 clone lions. Good stuff.

If I make enough progress with CCCV, I'll take a break and post more interior shots. This castle has already been dismantled, but there are plenty of shots that I can find and publish. I'll probably put them up on brickshelf next and set up a mocpages account.
This MOC is not qualified for submission. It was an old battles contest submission.

This is excellent, Pig! I love it. How many pieces did you use in it?
20,000?
Anyways, I love how big it is. The white and grey is a good mix, and Black Falcons are always good. Size and number of troops I think are what make it the best, but the castle is still a great MOC.
