Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Diorama

Post by SirNadroj »

Howdy folks!

Ok, so I saw Tim Burton's: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street a few days ago. Some parts were implied, like the bodies being cut up into pieces, but it had it's fair share of blood and throat-cutting action. I couldn't help but laugh at some parts, though it is supposed to be horror/musical. I really liked it, so here is a doirama/vignette I made. (Yes, I painted the hair: I think the paint is washable, though.)

So, on the top, you can see the barber shop, which is over Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop (which I will eventually build), and the basement with the meat grinder. Todd has just killed another victim and has sent him down the chute in the barber's chair he modified to swing backwards, so the bodies can go through the trap door. On the bottom is the basement, and blood-soaked cobble-stone floor. There is a small pile of bodies. Also know that the wall is just supposed to be a 'corss-section' so to speak. It's not broken, or anything like that; I just built it that way to be artistic.

Great MOC. I loved the movie and this definitely captures the feeling of both the movie and the Broadway original. I think that your Sweeny Todd would benefit from a more sinister looking head though. Right now he looks too young IMO. The rest of the MOC is superb though. The meat grinder is great however (some trans-red plates mixed in with the hands would be great), and the chair and trap door are perfect.

really well done man :) I've only ever seen it as a play but that still resonates really well from watching that.

No, its about the man singing soft tunes about his lost wife/daughter while simultaneously cutting deep into the throats of innocent people which then proceed to shoot streams of blood that gets everywhere yet stains nothing. The audience that night couldn't figure out if they were supposed to laugh or cringe or what- the blood and singing just kept coming.

The first half of the movie is pretty ok, but it quickly becomes painful to watch, and I'm not talking frightening or sickening.... just painful. You find yourself sitting there thinking "why exactly am I watching this?"

EDIT: I like this MOC though, however I agree that Todd looks too young.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've since replaced Todd's 'Tom Riddle' Head with the DV's Apprentice head from the Rogue Shadow...I'll post pics asap.
