CCCV Contest Tower of London

Post by Randman »

It's been a great year for CCC. I haven't entered since the first year, four years ago, but here is my entry for Misc.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=292885

It's a minifig-scale version of the Tower of London for the Miscellaneous category. Also see my Castle Spaces entry, the Tower of London Chapel, which is an interior shot from this MOC. It was fun putting this one together, especially the windows in the front and the interior. To see more pics, especially some interior shots of the Armory, please go here:

Please let me know what you guys think. and please also see my Castle Spaces entry of the Chapel, which I'll post about soon.

There were so many great entries this year. Thanks to all the Admins, who keep this site and these contests going strong for those of us who love building castle lego!

Cheers,
Randman

This is excellent and it looks very accurate from what I can tell.
You did a great job incorporating the white with the tan bricks. The design looks fantastic. And this thing is massive! How many pieces do you reckon it took to build?

As someone who goes to the Tower of London quite often, I have to say that I think your creation is very cool. I especially like the armoury. 8)

I might be at the Tower tomorrow. I won't be able to stop imagining it with life-size minifigs because of you! :D

Thanks for the feedback. I was inspired after visiting the Tower of London a couple years ago. I can't even begin to think of how many bricks it took to make this thing. The large round tower alone has a radius of 12 1x3 bricks and 12 1x1 round bricks per level (minus the occasional arch for windows), and it's 64 levels high! That was the smallest radius I could get with that technique.

I fear I will have to tear this tower down soon...I have most of my gray bricks tied up in the interior and so many tan and white bricks on the outside, let alone all the weapons I have in the interior. I can't build anything else until Ii have all the pieces back from this MOC! Still, it was fun to build.

Having seen this MOC in person, I have to say its even more impressive than in the pictures. Lots of great breakaways on every floor, and the overall building is HUGE!

Good luck in the contest, its awesome!
