Castle Stairwell

Hey, I'm pretty new here. This is the first MOC I've posted.



This is a SNOT castle stairwell that belongs in an outside space. This was one of my first castle projects, and it was pretty fun. I would have liked to make it bigger, but this project used up all of my bley bricks. The upper portion is also removable and can be taken off to access the interior, which is a cozy room with a chair and bookcase.

I'm still experimenting with the mottling effect so it's not all one color. I wasn't exactly sure how to do it with this, as the whole thing is very clean and I thought it might seem out of place.

All comments and constructive criticism are welcome!

... and very nicely done. The interior room aspect adds a nice bit of wimsy to the MOC. The inside details are well done. The SNOTness gives this a very good clean feel. And I like the railings.

Very nice. The room inside really gives this an interesting twist, that turns an otherwise bland model into something quite intriguing. I think it would work even better if it were pictured with no figs at all. I like the clean look, and the white steps.

Perhaps I just didn't look close enough, but where's the SNOT? Everything I see is good 'ol studs up.

Beautiful staircase, I can just imagine is stretching infinitely higher. Also, welcome to CC, I hope you enjoy your stay here. It's good to see another fellow statesmen.

I like the design in the tile flooring, with the light grey tracing out the path among the black. The addition of the black tiles makes me think of marble or some other expensive stone facing, rather than a more common rock, which I like.

Great staircase, cool interior, but I must ask, How do you get "inside" the structure? I do not see any door or portal to get in and out...

Yes, studless design. I was under the impression that when no studs were visible, it was SNOT. I guess I was wrong about that. Thanks for informing me!

Yeah, it could use a door. I thought of putting one in, but I wasn't sure where to put it or what door to use.

You've got that right! All of my funds right now are saving up for this summer's sets, especially the Green Grocer. The bley that I have comes from Harry Potter sets which I dismantled for parts.

SNOT is [(you)]S[/(you)]tuds [(you)]N[/(you)]ot [(you)]O[/(you)]n [(you)]T[/(you)]op.

Just to expand on Jason (and hi there, btw, haven't seen you post here in a bit) SNOT is any technique that points bricks in a direction other than the simple stacked orientation you usually see. Often SNOTty creations are studless because the top of a creation is the sides of the bricks rather than the top part with the studs.
