The Jewel of your Lego Castle Collection
Hey all,
Got a question... What is your most treasured Lego Castle set (including subthemes such as Vikings but not Harry Potter)?
Mine, I have a MISB 6086 Black Knight's Castle.

Absolutely, for all those lucky folks who managed to get that prized minifig, TimmyCount Blacktron wrote:So then I guess the Time Cruisers count?Horak the Great wrote:Hey all,

I'm not sure which is better, Timmy or the Professor!Horak the Great wrote:Absolutely, for all those lucky folks who managed to get that prized minifig, TimmyCount Blacktron wrote:So then I guess the Time Cruisers count?Horak the Great wrote:Hey all,

Hey,
I have to admit that I actually don't own all that many castle-themed sets. I mostly use Bricklink and then buy whatever themes I can get at deep discount. That said, even if I owned many more official castle sets, the jewel would still be the Dan Siskind Blacksmith Shop. That's just a great build and a beautiful set, and marked the start of much greater AFOL involvement in official LEGO product.

It is either Black Falcon's Fortress or the viking ship from 2005.
Black Falcon's Fortress strated it for me as far as large sets go and I had many years where this was central to most of my lego kingdom.
Viking longboat was just awesome and got me head first back into lego collecting (actually my wife bought it for me so it is her fault
). It is a fun set in itself though.

I have to agree with this completely. Not only is it a satisfying build for children/adults of both genders and all ages, but it has none of the (IMHO) Castle wall elements that are so very hard to work into a MOC. The set was available at a time when many Castle elements were available to compliement it (such as the KK 1.0 sets and minifigures, the Castle Minifigure Accessory pack among others) that this set became a real springboard for a true Castle environment. The fact that it was co-opped between LEGO and AFOLs was the best part.Bruce N H wrote:Hey,

Hmm...
This is a very though call.
I think that my favorite set I own would be 6060, followed closely by 6086 and a BFF with an original box (not legends).
In Christ,

So many pride and joy sets, I will have to answer on multiple levels.
1. The no.1 MISB set I own and would choose if I could only have a single set is 3739 Blacksmith Shop. http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/3739-1
2. The no.1 MISB set I would own if I could. Obviously I am reconciled that this won't happen is the 1978 Town Square - Castle Scene. http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/1592-1
3. Best on-going collection of sets (work in progress) - My MISB collection of KK1 all the sets are inseparable as a collection. This range had different packaging between USA/Canada and rest of World as well as different Japanese labelling.
To be a complete collection you need most sets in multiples of 3 in the different packaging, even the redux 10176 King's Castle comes in two packaging forms.
http://www.peeron.com/inv/theme/LEGO/SY ... 27_Kingdom
I would have been happy to collect the entire Viking Range MISB as a stand alone collection but I have insufficient space so KK1 and the current castle range it is.
4. My no.1 small caste set of all time is the Black Knight, what a piece of art. Although I have to admit that the current 7009 Knight with barding is superior. http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6009-1
Having said all that, I think that the current Kings Castle siege, Dwarf Mine and good knight impulse are going to be all time castle classics of the future, and the best and cheapest time to collect MISB Lego sets is when there released.
So as a MISB collector you can more easily forget about sets like the 375 castle and be happy about the more recent offerings.
