What is a large army for you
So I was wondering, While playing Chess with my new Chess set, I thought of a big army is, or could be. So what do you people think a BIG army is?
For me, 20 - 49 is a big army, 50+ is a huge army, 10 - 19 is a moderate army, and 9 down is a tiny small army.

I would say it depends on what kind of space your working with. If you are in a diorama, 6 would be huge. If its a massive castle scene that you would show at Brickworld/fest, I would say 75+.

Well, I guess this is dependant on the size of your figure collection.
Unfortunately, the castles I build are too large for me to have a convincing army. I only have a few hundred castle minifigs (between 300 to 400), so staging a large-scale assault simply isn't feasible. That being said, if I were to stage a battle scene on a 48 x 48 baseplate, my army would be more than sufficient. Right now my largest faction is made up of either BF or Crown Knights at around sixty figs in each faction. I would probably call this a small to mid-sized force.

Oh, only 300 to 400...Blueandwhite wrote: I only have a few hundred castle minifigs (between 300 to 400), so staging a large-scale assault simply isn't feasible.

Any ways, a large army is about somwhere ~100 minifigs, IMO. Past that its huge.
My army's only 21 soldiers(6 archers, 5 spearmen, 9 swordsmen, and one captain) <-- tiny

Hmm... for me I would consider a large army to be about 500. If it were 1,000 or more, then I'd define that as "huge". So far I only have 2 factions that number at least 1,000 minfigs: China and Persia. Im hoping to add India to that list soon.
Although I have about 7,000+ minifigs... however I divide them up into Eras (time periods) and Kingdoms. There's 8 Eras and AT LEAST 7 kingdoms/nations for each Era.

for me a big army would be 500+ soldiers. I would have to guess that my average army size is about 100 where my smallest army is about 20 and my largest is about 1500.

I think Blue and White has it pretty much on the head. The terms used are relative to the number of total mini fig's then divided by the number of factions. If you have 300 men and 8 factions one with 100 would likely be a large-huge army because the other armies would be smaller so perhaps moderate to large armies of small to moderate or just small armies.
I have not counted my mini figs since I was 16 or 17 so I have no idea how many I have but having in the thousands seems like such an insane volume I just am awed by it. Though to be fair for me with that many men it would seem would lessen the importance of most of them.
My largest faction was the lion knights/crusaders and likely still is. I have no idea how many I have of them though. Wish I had bought more of the viking voyagers though! I have about 30 wolfpack perhaps slightly more and they never were a huge or large army but were large enough to be a moderate to small army relative to the others.

It's definitely relative.
At it's basal level (what I would qualify as the least amount in relative terms), a small 'army' is 10, a medium army is 25, a large army is 50, and a huge army is 100. As a collection grows, I expect such thresholds to scale as an approximated ratio, though it would perhaps depend on what percentage of your collection is military in nature??
Goblin and I may be doing an updated audit of our collection. He's been a little slow with documenting our ad purchases from last season, and we have a little over 1 more to go through...
As far as collections go, we're getting to the stage (in this thing we call an obsession) where we have a handful of unopened sets constantly on standby.
I purchased many sterilite stackable drawers to try and ease the burden of a slightly chaotic organization situation. 2 towers reach the ceiling now with some older non-compatible towers reaching mid height... It helped some, but I feel the urge to buy more. I'm REALLY impressed with flip-top sterilite containers. The smallest ones sell for 77 cents at Wal-Mart and are superior to zip-locs, especially for sorting parts on a table (where one should be sorting their parts with a comfortable chair!). They work fine for storing torsos and heads.

I agree it's all relative, and depends on your own collection and what you're doing with it.
I'm counting in terms of how many figs I can comfortably place on a 32x32 baseplate if I reserve one 6-stud wide strip on one edge for a background structure. For me the number is 48.
In my book, then, below 1 BP = 48 figs is small, 1 to 3 BP's (48 to 144 figs) is medium-sized and 3+ BP's is large.
Huge is what I admiringly say when I see JPinoy's insane amount of figs!
In my current collection, though, I only have two medium-sized armies that are set to become large in the future. I have 107 Crown knights and 51 Shadow knights. All my other figs combined amount to another 50, perhaps.

Jpinoy, you couldn't resist posting on this topic could you.
I would say 100 is a decent army size. Most of my faction armies number around 50 or so. I plan to change that very soon.
