I don't know about you, but they're also probably adults with jobs that earn them enough money to feed their lego habit. Now, I don't know about you, but I just got my first job...that won't skyrocket me to hundreds of figs immediately, but It'll pay off over time.

I have...probably a couple hundred figs of various sorts.

I'm not so much an 'adult', I'm 22. Sure that's old, but it doesn't feel it. :D

I attribute it to going Lego-crazy. I think we all do when our Dark Age ends - I mean, I'm buying at least two of the larger sets, and three-to-five of the impulse sets. I've gone overboard, I don't really have the funds to live this way.

It doesn't help that I have one set of Arkham Asylum and two more on the way (for the parts. :P) My mum made me promise to stop buying Lego so impulsively, she doesn't think it's financially viable, and she thinks it's silly a girl of my age still 'plays with kids toys'.

I don't know how well that promise will hold, though. I see a lot of Lego-buying in my future. 8)

In the four months since this happened, I've gotten to a total of 88 Crownie figs. This is without buying any extra figs from Bricklink or Ebay, they're all purely from sets I've bought.

Hi Foxglove sorry I haven’t said hello before.

I was in an exclusive army building phase between 1997 – 2001; I actually threw away unwanted parts and all of set instructions I purchased? I don’t recommend this.

I have two very large KK1 armies; Bulls and knights, I still enjoy assembling the Lion knights army once in a while (All those white horses with blue barding and chrome knights) my kids are amazed. I was lucky that Lego used the designs again for the king’s castle siege to augment my armies with more serious armour.

Unfortunately the current range has such good Crown Knight mini figures, you could also buy the Viking chess set and use the min-figures for castle army building.

There is another feeling that you will experience as an AFOL and that is when you walk into a store and you can no longer buy a cheap for example Viking set or Crown Knight so if your interested keep a couple of those impulse sets unopened to look at/open in say 10 years time.

I notice in Sydney it’s getting more difficult to find the 2007 castle range now, they were such good sellers, my favourite stores are K-mart and Big W for these sets now.

I think its a good ideal not to be to impulsive near ebay etc, its good to know what your spending then you will realise how much money you can actually spend, and may make you take more time shopping/browsing to make your budget go further.

You can normally wait for items to go on sale before you purchase ie 15% of at target/K-mart etc and buy the best value for money sets.

Its totally normal to initially spend a lot of money on a new hobby.

22 is a good six years older than me. You're my older sister's age. That seems old(er) to me. And I didn't feel that way when my Dark Age ended. My lego spending since I came out of it has amounted to $60 over a period of six months...certainly not what you're talking about. But then, I guess it's hard building a custom faction from scratch with nought but bricklink to provide the pieces...

Howdy Mario.

I've been good around Ebay - it's that the stores near me don't carry much in the way of Castle Lego, so I've been buying directly from S@H. I had about five Bricklink orders aswell.

My mother isn't sure how much I'm spending on Lego, she's just seeing packages arrive every other week and coming to the conclusion that I'm spending a fortune. She doesn't want me to go overboard, as I tend to do when faced with a hobby I like. (The sixty-something PS2 games in my closet can attest to that).

I'm pretty good with my spending habits otherwise, in the three years since I finished high school I've saved enough money to put a sizeable deposit on a house.

I'm also fine with specials at K-mart and such, on a couple of occasions I've had to take ripped boxes and gotten further discounts because of it. (Which I don't really mind, especially when buying multiples).

To Voran -

The main reason I've spent so much lately is that, unlike some lucky souls, I didn't have a Lego collection to fall back on once my Dark Age ended. I had to start from scratch, hence the buying of multiple sets for parts. I don't expect to continue this habit, especially as I now have at least one of each of the Fantasy Era sets released so far.

Lego, video games, anything to do with electronics, fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk, cyberpunk, heavy metal music, graphic novels... I also collect McFarlane dolls and love my shockingly B-grade horror movies, and will watch/read/automatically adore anything to do with zombies.

It would be a bit of an odd couple, but it might work.

It also wouldn't help that my partner would probably tear shreds off me for even considering it.

Oh well, what're you going to do, right? :D

Cute. Just keep setting aside a lot of money and you'll grow your LEGO army into a force to be reckoned with... like mine. :D

The ironic part is that this is actually a modest statement. As far as 'castle-themed' collections go, and as far as I know, yours is the largest.

However, remember, it is not the size of your army, it's what.... Hahaha - I almost said it with a straight face; of course its the size that counts
