I'm assuming that you are referring to timber_wolf899's comment:

If so, he wasn't talking about something like 7094. Many of us would prefer a large castle rather than the Chess Set. While the Chess set is cool, a $200-300 castle with a couple of thousand pieces would be much cooler.

The set you were referencing is less than $100 and has significantly fewer pieces.

Yes i know, that was only a little joke. I would also love to see a really big incredibly detailed castle next year, but the thing with that is then that you'll need more and more money...

You know I was sorta thinking the same thing. I saw a King's Castle Siege set up on display tonight and I was underwhelmed. Even the old Black Monarch's looks better in comparison. It looked flimsy and too thin/sparse. Lots of good pieces, maybe, but not well-designed and not really inspirational per se. I saw one go on Ebay for $60 the other night, I might have been talked into it for that, but $100, no way. How is it that Bricklink is still popular when these sets start at the same price they retail for?

Yeah, I guess you're right, but:
But i hate to buy a 200 set just to part it out.
I agree with that. I mean... $200 is a lot... I mean, I guess if you really wanted a castle siege scene, it would be worth it, but then again, I don't usually make things like that... oh well, it's all a matter of opinion.
True, but you could save up money and buy two, then you don't have to worry.

I'm seriously wondering if I could build most of this with mostly my existing parts (as well as general collection, I have the entire Castle '07 line with two of each small set, and Castle '08). I'd need three more dwarves (advent calender(s) plus another defender?), the witch from advent calendar, the two large baseplates, and a scary amount of white and black tiles... still... it mightn't be impossible, and a lot cheaper and more satisfying than spending another €200!

I have thought about doing the same thing. I have plenty of castle pieces and minis. All I really need are the 2x2 tiles. Decisions, decisions...

I know. I read the review and I saw the box with the XL baseplate inside of it, and I was just like "!!!"

I mean, the box dwarfed the XL baseplate. And those are pretty big.

I really want this set, but I'm never going to be able to justify spending $200 on LEGO at once (especially not after moving out!). I mean, I just spent a tenth that on five Crossbow Carts (real name?) at Target, and I feel sort of bad about that (and they were 30% off!).

I think I'm going to get that Castle coin bank, and then just put all my spare change in their, for my LEGO fund. It'll add up...eventually. :D
I collect LEGO themes that start with "C." And Pirates. I call them "Corsairs."

The box is quite ridiculous. Actually, this is one thing that has prevented me from buying the set. Where would I put that box? If you were on a ship that was sinking, the box could be used as a flotation device until you were rescued ;)
