New Article: Elves of the Sylvan Moon
It has reached the point where I feel this faction deserves it's own article...

Liked them the first time I saw them, and now I like them even better. I wouldn't change a thing...
... Perhaps a red/dark red faction is in order. Dress slopes are easily available in those colors and some elves can be a little more aggressive.
Keep up the great work Anthony!

They look great but do they need a article?

Yes. Yes they do.jamitjames wrote:They look great but do they need a article?
Originally part of the Octagon shield article, the Sylvan Elves have just too broad of a scope. They're more than just Octagonal shield designs, and use templates used in other articles, not to mention an entirely new template that has yet been given it's own article. The Sylvan Elves just ceased to 'fit' in the article. Besides, this way I will be able to introduce and showcase other original factions very quickly and easily, if I ever come up with them.

My comments regarding the octagonal stickers can be applied here as well.
These are AWESOME!
I think I like the green ones better, but that might be because in my mind 'Sylvan' brings to mind the 'Silvan' elves of Lorien and Mirkwood. (Who, as a branch of the Nandor, can be considered 'Green Elves')
How can you tell I'm a Tolkienophile?

Holy Cow, these are awesome!
While I love the green, the blue is perfect!
The designs are definitely elvish, and they all work so well together, and look so professional. I'm sort of depressed that TLC hasn't put this much imagination into their products, I'm sure if they ran a line of your torso designs on minifigs, they would sell like hot cakes!
C'mon Shop @ Home!
EDIT: Sylvan reminds me of the Sindar, from the Silmarillion.
What a tongue twister! hehe

Hehehe! he got me started on Tolkien! Hehehe!the_Rascal_King wrote:EDIT: Sylvan reminds me of the Sindar, from the Silmarillion.

Why 'sylvan' would remind you of Sindar when there are "Silvan" elves (spelled exactly as is!), to be reminded of, i dunno. Although the Silvan Elves, by the time they get called that, are under the rule of Sindar princes: Orophir and Amdir (later succeeded by Thranduil and Amroth). So I suppose the connection is there.
Can you tell that I'm a Tolkien freak!

Hehe
I'm a big tolkein fan too, but for some reason I'm lacking the encyclopedia mind genome other fans seem to have
I'm constantly being shot down or corrected in heated arguments about LOTR observations, I'm used to it by now hehe.
Strangely enough, I think the fact that major fans, like yourself, retain all that knowledge and share it is a wonderful thing! It's like having an anthropologist of Middle Earth to refer to!
And to answer your question, it reminded me of the Sindar because they are my favorite characters from the Silmarillion. They stick out in my mind because of their various stories, I dunno. I think they deserve armor like Anthony has designed!

True, Rascal, there is a lot more about the Sindar to remember than about the Silvan. Why, even the most famous adventures of an elf from a Silvan realm, namely Legolas son of Thranduil, doesn't quite count, because Legolas was technically a Sinda, or at least half-Sinda (his mother MIGHT have been Silvan: nobody knows!)
As for the memory genome: thanks for the compliment! My theory there is not that most fans memorize it because they love it so much, but that its the people with the memories who are drawn to become fans, due to the huge legendarium out there. It is so detailed and complex, that people (or me anyway) just have to be amazed, and become a fan.
In my case, anyway, the memory thing was present before Tolkien, and remains present in other corners of my life.
BTW, if I get too nitpicky or technical, or anything like that where Tolkien's concerned (and I probably will), just say so. I need to be told!

Tolkein's world is the original, often imitated, never duplicated! I agree that it's world is expansive and insanely detailed, and that is very attractive to the fantasy buff.Formendacil wrote: My theory there is not that most fans memorize it because they love it so much, but that its the people with the memories who are drawn to become fans, due to the huge legendarium out there. I myself have three encyclopedias of LOTR, the LOTR atlas, the LOTR companion and Tolkein A to Z. They helped immensely when I read the Silmarillion, there are certain passages that when read aloud are completely unintelligible from all the names and references!
You definitely aren't being too nitpicky. Like I said, it's good that people like you know these things, so that people like me who don't retain everything can learn.
I think we should stop going OT before the Mods smite us!
