CCCVI: The forest king's hidden fortress

Post by DNL »

The leader of the outlaws lives like a king in his hidden fortress, but will this luxury soon be over?

Good stuff, I don't recall seeing many foresty hideouts. I like the spiked fortifications.

Some great stuff, Daniel! I love your style of building, very unique and, well, awesome!

I do have one bit of constructive criticism: the roofs probably shouldn't be red. I'm not sure if it is meant to be hidden at all, but I believe that is would look better with black or brown roofs.

Anyway, on to the praise:

The spears rule. Really.
I love the flowers with the lever bases. I might steal that idea in the future, if I may.
Beautiful rock-scaping!
I love the little stone tower. It has tons of great little architectural details, but it in no ways looks out of place.
The whole thing has a kind of thrown-together-over-a-longish-period-of-time feel to it, which I believe fits rather nicely.

OK, well, I can't spend too long sitting here and gaping. I have to go destroy my BrickCon stuff for pieces...

Here's where being a Mod totally beats being an Admin... I can comment on all this stuff!

Anyway, the reason I'm happy to comment should be obvious: this is an awesome creation. The wood looks wooden, the rock looks rocky, and the vegetation looks vegetative. There is a strong quality of natural randomness to this creation that is the mark of a good landscaper--and the building is pretty to look at underneath its well-covered surface.

Well, that's some fine work. With only a few MOCs revealed so far, it looks like this year's contest is going to see the some fierce competition. It's a shame that you're on the wrong team though  .
