8877 Vladik's Dark Fortress - Extra pieces?

Postby Mudpuppy » Sat Oct 25, 2008 3:25 pm

Has anyone else who bought a 8877 Vladik's Dark Fortress notice an extra bag of parts labeled "1"? Basically, it has duplicates of the helms and chestplates for all the figures as well as the battleaxes/weapons.

I'm just curious because I'm on my 3rd set and they've all had them. The first one is contained in another larger plastic bag, and the 2nd bag is loose on its own.

Yep, a pleasant surprise-- it'd come up a couple years ago.

Indeed! Well good to know.

Leads me to my 2nd question... what the heck to do with all these brightly colored knights?!

I suppose I should make a seperate thread.

Ah, some guys get all the luck. As you can see, I did not get an extra bag with my set a few years back.

...Actually, considering the need to deal with all those jellybean knights... which of us really is the lucky one...?

Yeah, I got the extra accessories as well. I could equip like 10 extra guys because of this 8) (or make an armoury  ).

Final count:

4 Vladek's Fortresses

3 extra "1" bags

Not bad overall I guess.

I don't own this set, but many sets I've gotten over nearly 20 years of LEGO usage have had extras. I have yet to buy a set that is missing a piece however. It seems LEGO errs on our side.

I got extra Vladek's Dark Fortresses, does that count for extra baggies? :P

BTW, I have gotten many sets missing pieces, the worst was an entire run of the KK1 Chrome Knight's Cart sets that were missing everything from small plates to minifigure legs. You do have to watch your parts from time to time.

With both of my Valdek's Dark Fortress sets I too received the extra bags. I ended up with some exrta plate armor, swords, small bricks, and snake.

Not too bad for the best castle of the KKII line. IMO... :o

Vladek and his Shadow Knights were the highlight of the KKII line. Too many jellybeans!!!!!!!!

If you like the Vladek faction, or just like a fortress made from a lot of black pieces then I recomend it.

That depends...

This set has a lot of pieces, the design is one of the best, in my opinion, and definitely playable. It suffers, however, from the preponderance of large, one-use pieces (well, more if one's creative... but one would have to be), and the presence of the KK2 good guy figs. The overall colour scheme, black and dark red is definitely a pro, though. Those are awesome pieces.

Overall, it was a good value in stores, but whether you want to buy it off the resale market (I'm assuming it's gone elsewhere), will depend on whether you want the model or the parts.

I do own a copy of this set. It was a nice one, though I cannot remember the extra parts. I bought a copy in Austria in 2006.
