Vladek Dark Fortress Extras!

Post by Athos »

Gave in and snagged a second VDF today (30% off at Target). Imagine my surprise when I finished building it up and found a bunch of extra pieces. Somehow I must have gotten an extra baggie of stuff.

The highlights of the extras included:

3 Speckled Armors
3 Speckled Helmets
3 Speckled Axes
1 of each of the rainbow knight armor and helmets (no face plates though)
1 extra set of Vladek Armor and Shield
2 Striped Shields
1 brown disk
Plus a bunch of other assorted stuff

All in all a pretty nice surprise, :D

Steve, who thinks he may go snag the other one (just in case it was a mistake for the entire run)

Wow! That is cool. Definitely run back and see if you can get another one. When I got that mismolded mast in the little Viking boat set, I went back and bought another one. It too was a mismold, so maybe you will get lucky!

Cool, lucky you. Did it come with any extra wall pieces? I don't mean to hijack the thread, but:

A similar thing happened to me (though on a much smaller scale). In my Fenris Wolf set, there were two of the bag that had the droid arms, axe head/shaft, pnuematic T's, and helmet, among other things. Too bad mine didn't come with two of both bag .

That is awesome, my sets never come with any extras, (except for small parts), and I just got 4 Viking sets. :?
Maybe LEGO should just start putting extra bags in all their sets! That would also increase their popularity as well as us AFOLs (and TFOLs) getting lots of extra parts!!! :D

I picked up the second one today. No extra pieces... :(

Anyone want to buy/trade a couple of sets of rainbow knights?

Athos- Who would want to buy or trade for a Rainbow Knight!?! Nobody seems to like them, so you should use them as knights failing to takeover the fortress. If someone wants them I'd be surprised...

Anubiscong: I think the rolling eyeballs means that he knows that and accepts it..

On Topic:

Seems like I almost always end up with a few extra pieces, mostly 1*1 round plates and the like. :D I've never had a complete extra bag though.. sounds like cool surprise though! 'specially to get the speckled armor!

Yes, everybody gets a few extra pieces in every set (AFAIK), but it's rare that you get an entire duplicate bag. LEGO usually puts in a few extra small parts in case some get lost (at least, that's my reason why they do it). Unless, do you get a duplicate bag in every set?

No I meant the one or two peices, and my reason for them is the same as yours, thats why they only give very small peices.

Not to raise an old thread but:

1) There are always 'extra' pieces of certain parts. For example, 1x1 rounds - there will always be 1 extra of each color.

2) I found this post because I just picked up an 8877 for 50% at Target last night, and after building it today, I also had an extra of the 'little bag #1'! Woot! I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else, or if some AFOL who hates the jellybean knights stuffed it in some box hoping someone else would like it :)

The inventory in my bag was slightly different, which is strange though...

3 speckled armor
3 speckled hemlets
1 each of Purple, lt. blue, green, and Vladek dk. red armor (no 'Bear' red)
1 dk red helmet, 1 dk. green helmet (no visors)
2 Striped octagonal shields
1 Vladek scoprion shield

and for the random pieces:
3 speckled axes
5 black spears
1 3x3 inverted round dish, brown
4 2x2 round plates lt. blue
2 Slope Brick 33 3 x 1 royal blue
5 Plate 1 x 2 with Arm black
2 1 x 4 paltes black
1 Technic Brick 1 x 2 with Holes md. stone
1 Plate 2 x 2 Corner dk. stone
1 black Technic Angle Connector #2
2 Slope Brick 45 2 x 1 md. stone
1 Plate 2 x 2 with Towball black
1 Plate 1 x 4 with Towball Socket Short, 4 Slots, md. stone

Since I picked up the set mostly because I hadn't really bought any KKII sets and wanted some accessories, this was extra cool! Too bad there aren't more, so I could hope to get them at 75% off!
