Large KKII Figures

Post by mmcb »

I know the large scale KKII figures have been discontinued since 2007, but I was just wondering whether or not there is still a call for them. Are they still popular even though they're discontinued?

The reason I am asking is because my daughter wants to make some accessories for them (capes, etc) and is curious as to whether other people would be interested in them as well.

If by popular you mean loathed, hated, or dispised then yes they're very popular. : )

Horrible abominations IMHO!

There is no call for them, that's why they are discontinued and there is not a current similar product. As I recall they were only popular in the 5-6 year old groups and have little use in the AFOL community. Popular? I think they never really were and LEGO did see quite a large number of these going to clearance. Most people either have forgotten about them or would really really like to. So, why'd you bring it up, eh?

Well, I did use a Jayko head and Vladek mask to make a Batman driving my UCS Batmobile -- but that's the best use I can muster.

I don't think many AFOLs are interested in them...they were mostly popular among children. Maybe some people here have kids who like the action figures? They're similar to Bionicle figures, right? Maybe some Bionicle fans like them, but I'm not into Bionicle so I wouldn't know.

I think it's great that your daughter has creativity and imagination to create custom capes for her Lego, not to mention an interest in Lego period.

Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a call for these figures any longer. There is a call for custom capes of various factions for regular minifigs, however, if she had any thoughts about that.

I seem to be really out of tone here but I really like those big KKII action figure bionicle like things. I think if your daughter wants to make capes for that you should fully support her either way, whether there's demand for it in the AFOL community or not ;)

I'm a Bionicle fan and I have a few of the KKII giant figs (I got mine a few years back). They are different from Bionicle. They have clicky-joints instead of ball-joints. Their armor attaches with studs instead of pins (most of the time). I don't really like them (though I hang on to mine because they have a few useful parts). But I guess they are aimed toward younger kiddos.

Ok, well it looks like my kids and I are definately in the minority here! I know a good majority of you are all AFOLs, so I guess your responses don't really come as a shock :?

Since my daughter likes them so much and she came up with the idea of making accessories for the figures (just like her Dad does :D ), I'm not going to discourage her in anyway. I will be backing her all the way with this project and will even help her to try and create some unique figs to put up on EBay.......I'll just be sure not to post her work on here
